you won't run into another one of those at a car meet!

345hp is quite a lot for that tiny thing!

I've seen a few old Alpines in NC, but I've never seen a Renault 5. Dave, you need to get this, it's quite a bargain.

I'm not sure what exactly the guy has done to it to bump the power from 160 bhp to 345 bhp. That said though, it does seem to be a pretty nice example of a R5 Turbo II.

When I worked for Brun Motorsport in Switzerland in 1986 a coworker ( I dated his sister at the time) had one. He and I even added nitrous to the car. The car had over 450hp.
One day as he was going through an intersection at about 45mph, he stomped on it and did a 720 in frt of everyone. Soon after he sold the car.

peter...in 1985 i owned a turbo 2. it was a true homologation special and a very, very cool machine. capable to the extent that my 260 hp version would hand virtually anything productionwise its head!

i will always think of the late patrick jacqemart (sp? sorry) racing in the imsa gtu series with one of these little beasts!!!!

there were various options offered from the factory. the original turbo 1 @ 168hp. the turbo 2 options went from 185-360(tour de course option).

these were FAST cars and as turbo technology and the advent of motec and others...these cars have only gotten faster!!!!

Hah! I remember that car. Patrick was gifted...

I saw one of these a long time ago in a specialty import garage in Star, North Carolina. You know, near Biscoe and Black Ankle...

Isn't it amazing how things from your childhood stir you?

James Bond, Never say never again, Fatima Blush, awesome chase scene (For the R5, not the rocket bike). Watched it 100 times on the ole' VCR.

    From Wiki:

Fatima Blush: "You know making love to Fatima Blush was the greatest experience in your life."
James Bond: "Well to be perfectly honest, there was this girl in Philadelphia..."
    Fatima Blush: "SHUT UP!"
