That is just off the charts cool. For the performance that car will offer... for the price!?! Looks stunning, brilliant chassis, and now V10 power and soundtrack! I think I just found my most desirable (realistic) car.
I have no doubt that this performance is insane...but I can't force myself to like anything about the looks of this car.
No audi since their rally program back in the 1980's has ever really made me want to own one, but this one, gorgeous looks in an agressive way. Black really fits it, but I'd probably go with some other color. Regardless, its going to outprice me, and I'm also happy with my VW/AUDI/Porsche bastards I currently own.
I like the R8 a lot (it looks much better in person) but wow are some of it's lines bad. I especially hate how thay made the already hideous side blade (unnecessarily) bulge on this model.
I would personally rather buy the new GT2 or 997 Turbo. I dont really like the looks of the R8, I have seen a couple in person.
all I have to say is Audi bring it on! The car's hot! now it will be faster. Will it impact Gallardo sales? Those front brakes look like some serious buisiness!
I have heard that it might not be a v10 but a modified 8- possibly because of the ceiling the Gallardo creates. Who knows either way - love the R8 and this looks even sweeter. I agree the lines of the car are not perfect- I dislike the front from the side the most- love the way it looks directly from the back with the spoiler up and the way it looks from the front with the LED's on - no doubt Audi has a winner with this car- the Japanese should have filled this niche but Audi beat em too it. Interesting to see how the Nissan GTR and new Lexus square against this everyday exotic
I must admit to not really liking the R8 in photos. After seeing it in person, my opinion was changed completely. Suddenly everything looks pretty conventional in comparison, and the 911 looks positively ancient! I've heard that the twin turbo engine from the new RS6 may end up in the R8. 5.2L V10 twin turbo with 580hp and 480lb/ft. If that turns out to be the case, it will put the R8 in a totally different league, especially since RS motors have historically been very easily tuneable to great effect. I don't know what that will do to the Gallardo market though.
Very good point. I don't think it will take long time before someone starts providing the RS6 owners with reliable, small upgrade 650+ hp packages. MTM? That engine in a R8 should eclipse Gallardo and 997TT. BUT it's a chance Audi don't want to use this RS6 engine, simple fact that it could steal a large number of Gallardo customers... Edit; Imagine being a Gallardo customer knowing the cheaper version (R8) will outperform you.
I agree wholeheartedly that this has the potential to really annoy Gallardo owners, but I'd be equally pissed off if I sprung for a top of the line Audi supercar, only to be smoked by a RS6 station wagon with a family of 5 on board! Don't know how they intend to resolve this one, but it will be interesting nevertheless...
I think it looks good. Not sure I'd drop the coin on one but I'm glad its going to be out there for those that do...
It does not have the appear of Porsche or Ferrari. Visually, I think it looks like a Mitsubishi Eclipse (a sister perhaps). I would never drop money on this car no matter how fast it is. I think their onto something, but they need more time at the drawing board for the body. I've seen this car at a recent show and it did nothing for me, but then I've never been an Audi fan either.
