Ok this is going to sound silly but I rarely drive my car other than in wet when first starting cold and then switch to sport when warm. Never really tired race mode, my F430 is a 2007 F1 converted to manual by EAG (oem parts, very happy with result).

I tried race mode for the first time since conversion and OMG it turns the car into a beast; the rev matching and throttle sensitivity is perfect for double clutching and rev matching and car feels so much better in race mode. Never felt that way with F1, just felt like too harsh but really loving its feel especially when engine, gearbox and tied are warmed up. ...

I’ll have to spend more seat time in race mode. I’m always in sport, but gave up on double clutching. Since revs drop so fast I have to rev at least 3k past my intended target to match by the time I’m in gear. I found it much easier and smoother to just get shifter in gate first and then blip with immediate clutch release

Been driving in race mode almost 99pct of the time after 1 season. Shifts are quicker, suspension stiffer and yes rev matching and gurgling on downshifts make single clutch F1 Ferrari fun to drive. If for some reason you did not like ur F430 when it had the F1, you were not driving it right or your car had issues. I drove both an oem gated and F1 back to back prior to my purchase and the F1 put the biggest smile on my face. Id be lying if i told u i dont regret my decision but those reasons are mostly monetary at this point.

I loved my F430 when it had the F1, my decision to convert mine to manual was out of frustration when F1 started acting up and problem could not be diagnosed consistently and it stranded me a couple of times. It was also at a time oem kits were becoming very scarce and so I jumped on it, in an impulsive move that I don't regret. In retrospect, I didn't have a trustworthy knowledgeable mechanic well versed in F1 that I could trust. I am one of those who love the f430 in both guises and miss the F1 as much as I enjoy the more retro feel of the manual.

Interesting. Need to try it out. So in Race the car attempts to rev match?

hi, no not at all, there is. I such feature but the throttle map is much better suited to rev matching by the driver compared to sport mode

Ok got it. Don't have to jab the throttle as much.

Both f1 and gated are a blast. My friend let me drive his f1, and insisted that for around the town driving to avoid the brake pedal and just engine brake instead, blipping all the way to 1st. It was so fun, sound was amazing, but I felt guilty, probably not the best for the drivetrain, but he didn’t care at all :). I would never do that in my gated, but it’s so easy and hard to resist in the f1

With a three pedal, those manettino modes should only vary shock settings, bypass valve schedule, and stability control intervention sensitivity. You control the clutch and throttle. Many of the earlier comments only apply to F1.

I thought the manettino also controlled throttle response map even on the 6 speed. Is that not correct?

It also changes throttle mapping very very significantly as well and that's the point of the post

Another question I had seems to be already answered, gotta love this place. Looks like I should switch over to race mode.
