Today was the first time i put my car in Race. Definitely the car comes alive. The throttle becomes more sensitive and the exhuast tone is louder as well. I'm still under break in period, it is ok to put car in race mode? It is ok to drive the car in Race mode all the time? I love how the car changes.

congrats on the car. Youre fine in any manettino setting. just follow the rev and top speed requirements during break in.

it is a great sound in race, isn't it??

Yeah, in 458, the Race mode really wakes up the car. Sound is amazing. On my f430, didn't really notice much difference.

Today I tracked my 458. Race mode was a must! The scary part was, at times I felt the car kick in some tradition control while I was accidentally trail braking. I'm glad the electronics still work in race mode and it's not all about the sound!

    "Tradition control"?

You meant "traction control" right? Was that an autocorrect tragedy? :D

It took me a few moments to think about what kind of traditions your 458 was trying to kick into your lap.

Is it ok to just leave it in Race mode all the time and not touchh it ever? Does it put more stress on engine?

stop treating it like a baby.

it's not going to break if you don't kiss it goodnight.

It won't break if left in race mode. It WILL break if you don't kiss it goodnight!!

Without the tires heated up, I wouldn't run the car in race

Do you notice how this concept of a break in period only exists in America?
The test drivers at the factory test the cars to the limit the minute they leave the factory
I took my 458 out on the track the second day I had it

I've seen plenty of discussion about break-in on UK boards too. It isn't just a US thing.

I blame the stupid manufacturers - they are the ones recommending a break-in procedure in the owner's manual.

Did you get any footage from your day on the track?

Have you had other Ferraris on the track prior to your 458?

No footage from this day as my "GoPro" arrived yesturday. I will get some next time.

I have tracked my 430 a bunch of times, but typically run a Porsche Boxster S as it is WAY cheaper to maintain and I have a bad habit of doing a lot of damage to the car.
Brakes - I have boiled over the brake reservoir and gone off track.
Tires - ripped the bands out of the tread in high speed 720 degree spins
Engine oil leaks - from improper down shifting from 4th to 2nd
Orange cone marks - er? from orange cones jumping out in front of me. :)
