Just a couple of shots of a car at New Jersey Motorsports Park yesterday. Enjoy. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
My old car. I won the Ferrari Historic Challenge Championship with it back in 2003. My most fun races were in Europe. It is the last of the Michelotto built GTBs. Very special and totally unique compared to the others Michelotto built. Cheers, Bill
Bill, It nice to hear from a previous owner about this car. Thanks for posting. Was it set up with the Gulf paint scheme, orange and light blue, when you won the championship? Who owned it before you? There was a lot of attention paid to small details on this car. One was the single wiper system, they even went as far as to modify the hood with only one wiper arm cutout. You'll notice it in the first pic.
my father took some more photos of this car last weekend. He mentioned that it has a 'special' FI system (mechanical?) one hot 308 - too bad it's not a spider! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I saw that car race at infineon in the ferrari challange earlier this year. during qualifying, it took the pole, then the track dried out the and flat 12 monsters ate it up. http://www.youtube.com/user/xxxgarmstrongxxx#play/all/uploads-all/1/wqVud0O9l-g
hey, just noticed it has Wisconsin Collector plates just like my 308! Have to ask my mechanic if he knows the owner. Bill - do you have any links to more info on the car? What makes it a 'unique' Michelotto? How much did you sell it for? Touchy question I know, but everyone's wondering!
I know that one of the very famous Michelotto GTB's went for 715.000 EUR about three years ago !!!! Well, not knowing by certain. But the seller told me, and he is a wellknown and respected dealer.
Wow - That's got to be close to 512BBLM money. Not sure when this one ended up selling and for how much, but according to the 'history' link Sheehan put it up for ~$350k in Dec 2005 http://www.ferraris-online.com/pages/carintro.php?reqcardir=FE-308M-22409 I like the quick release engine cover lid hinges! according to http://www.qv500.com/ferrari308p6.php this car (22409) came in 2nd in the '84 Targa Florio there seems to be some major disagreement on the weight of the Groub B Michelottos. Sheehan's ad states 2250 pounds, while qv500.com states "70 pounds heavier than the standard cars" which has got to be what, at least 2900lbs? Somebody is WAY off (or both if the real number is in the middle at 2600) .
this one is not a gr4 but a gr B The one featering this thread is a gr4 Michellotto built 14 gr 4 and 4(?)gr B cars
Yes, the '84 Targo Florio car was a group B car and then converted to track. The group B cars had mainly fully adjustable wishbones and larger brakes. The group 4 car was down to about 1000-1050 kg, some claim 980 kg, but I doubt - as what we can figure out, below 1000 kg is extremely hard to get if not a massive use of titanium.
its an awesome little car, a few more shots from sears point. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
interesting, and thanks - my next question was going to be 'what's the difference between Gr 4 and Gr B" If you don't mind me asking, how do you know so much about these Michelottos? Former owner/driver or 'just' an enthusiast?
Well, the group 4 homologations (FIA approval of cars for motorsport) ran basically until end of 1981, and then replaced by group B which lasted to 1986 and was then completely banned. The main visible difference between a 308 GTB group 4 and group B car is the wider flares on the group 4 car. Why I know what I know? ...years of studying the 308 GTB Michelotto car, I have loads of pictures, articles etc. My studying was in order to enable myself to build my own Michelotto replica - which is what goes on right now, please have a look at www.rallyferrari.com and stay tuned, we have loads of new pictures to upload within the next week or so (photos being edited right now). Here is one more... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Aha! Of course I've been to MAT's site before; spent about 1 hour last weekend looking at every one of the ~700 photos of the Celica, as I did with the Michelotto project. Simply amazing work (and documentation!). Best of luck with the project, very much looking forward to photos and eventual in-car video cheers Kurt
