I don't ( in general) why the people that own historic racing Ferrari's don't put a bit more affort in creating a good copy of the original livery. Same costs, only more time to get the right pictures ( not too difficult with the internet).
for the moment we found with your help for le mans 1961 and 1962 Le Mans 1961 N°12 Fernand Tavano/ Giancarlo Baghetti pour Ecurie Scudéria Ferrari Abandon Le Mans 1962 N°21 Ed Hugus/George Reed Ecurie NART 9 ème OA & 4ème GT
This photo was taken at Laguna Seca. No7 at Sebring 1963 was a Corvette, #2643GT only raced at Sebring in 1962.
Sorry for brining up this thread again but I often see model cars of this car painted in yellow. Was this car ever driven or painted by it's owner in yellow? https://modell-paradies.de/onShop/pic/standard/TEC241D0-400.JPG
Bobby Shackleford in South Miami owned the car for quite a while-late 60s to mid or late 70s. I tried to buy it, but was outbid by Bob Taylor a California based dealer. Car at that time was yellow with ok cosmetics but had not run in several years. I had a picture of it at a FCA meet in Coconut Grove ca 1970 but my pre-digital photos are not organized.
I was around this car in the late 1970's, and it looked nothing as it does today. It looks quite nice today, nicer, in fact, IMHO...... It had just been dragged(literally, as the 4 wheels were ,ocked)from out of the garage in the Soth Eastern US from where it was "rescued." Gerald is no longer with us, so he is unable to give us a better recounting... It was pretty funky, and kinda original-as original as an OLD racing cer could've been in- that era... Reid's SWB was still a MUCH faster car at Laguna! (1979??? Corvrtte that year..chevy?)
Thanks for the info. So I asume the car was painted yello in 1963 USRRC Laguna Seca Race? At last it seems so as there is also no start number on barchetta.cc to find.
Since I gather you were around at the time - what happened to the Jerry Gamez SWB? Jerry was sales manager for Griswold in Berkeley and lived in Castro Valley. Jeff
What race at laguna Seca? in my file : 9-juin-63 Laguna Seca - Monterey Stan Peterson 250 GT Sperimentale 2643GT # 29 10e OA and 5e class
Apologies for resurfacing this old thread, but can anyone tell me if this is a picture of 2643GT, or a replica? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Having acquired a copy of this book some years ago at a very reasonable price , even by today's standard, has anyone done an English translation or at least a synopsis of the text.I assume the author, Stirling ?, originally wrote the text in English.I seems surprising no English language book was printed. There has to be a story there. tonascrew
I bought a copy also in Italian several years ago. It is leather bound and was published by "La Mille Miglia Editrice". I have photos of Sir Sterling signing my copy three years ago. I will post these photos if anyone would like to see them. None of the pages that show Moss show the car, but I do have them signed.
that is what the car looked like in 1978/9...last time I saw it in THAT con figuration/condition.. nose been done since, etc, etc... no idea on the SWB asked about...I was never involved with the guys in the east bay to any real degree...
Bill McKelvy the son of the Scuderia Bear race team owner posted several photos of #2643 from 1962 on facebook "Glory days of racing" "My father founded Scuderia Bear in 1960. The team ran mostly Ferrari from 61 to 65. In 66 the team entered a GT40 and a 427 Cobra at Sebring. The Picture in the garage was at our house in Pittsburgh." I am trying to get him to post on Ferrarichat.
