    Dear F-Chat Friends,

The folks in the Northwest forum have heard me talking about my participation with Team Seattle at the 24 Hours at Daytona race for some time now. I'll be one of 8 drivers in 2 997 GT3 Cup cars fielded by Synergy Racing. Team Seattle is unique in professional motorsports in that its sole reason for being is to raise money for Children’s Hospital in Seattle. I’m writing now to ask for your help in achieving our ambitious fundraising goal this year.

In the nine years that Team Seattle has been running cars at the Daytona race they have raised $1.8 million. The goal for the 2006 race is $500,000. I’ve been associated with Team Seattle since 1997 but in the role of contributor and sponsor. It still amazes me that I’ll be driving this year. You can learn lots more about Team Seattle at our website, www.TeamSeattle.com.

Why Children’s Hospital is Important to Me

As a resident of Seattle for almost 11 years Children’s Hospital has become close to my heart through the medical care they’ve provided to friends and their children and grandchildren. You can’t find anyone who has been in the Northwest for any time who doesn’t have a connection to the hospital.

I am so happy to be able to help this great institution. My commitment to Team Seattle takes this to a new level. I’ve spent time at the hospital (wearing my driver’s suit, of course) and will be visiting more over the next few months getting to know some of the kids. They LOVE the race cars and the racers. There is a level of excitement and cause for optimism for the kids that goes way beyond the financial benefits to the Hospital.

Where Does the Money Come From?

The majority of the money the Team raises for the hospital comes from per lap pledges made by individuals. Much like other types of charitable pledges, you pledge an amount for each lap the team completes during the race. We will cover about 700 laps during the 24 Hours. Of course you can pledge a flat amount, too. 100% of the money raised through pledges goes to the hospital. The cost of running the cars is paid by corporate and individual sponsors.

    How You Can Help

To make a pledge, visit the Team Seattle website at www.TeamSeattle.com and click on pledges at the top. That will take you to an online form you can complete to make a flat amount pledge or a per lap pledge. Just fill out the form and under "pledge solicitor" type "Will D." You don’t have to use a credit card - after the race the Hospital will send you an invoice for the amount of your pledge. Any amount will help!

Thanks for listening… and, I hope, making a pledge for this great cause. If you are planning to go to the race, stop by the Synergy garages and say hello.

    Thanks for your support,

    Will - #87 yellow/white 997 GT3 Cup
