While doing computer work, have a Jackie Chan movie Thunderbold playing in the background.

It is apparently in Hong Kong. The police have shut down roads so people can race.

Do the police in Hong Kong really do this?

Do they do this in any part of the world?

You are posting in the wrong section.....try "asia", but yes, I believe they do. I know the Hong Kong Ferrari Club drove to the Shanghai F1 race last year, and had a police escort...and they were going pretty fast... ;)

    In Malaysia and Indonesia too...

We have Police Escort for some sanctioned ' Charity Runs ' and the boys in blue enjoys it as much...they have to blow some cobwebs too in the Honda ST1100s and the Volvo T5s !

What a bunch of bollox. In China, maybe, since street regulations are still not too strict (at most places), but in Hong Kong? Gimme a break, do you think we all still wear fishermen's hat over here too?

They do it if your name is Jackie Chan & you are making a movie. Those race scenes at the beginning of "Thunderbolt" are really well made. Please don't even bother to watch the end of the movie racing though.

OFF topic from this but Ferrari related at least...

Dave, is that your white cabriolet in the window at Algar?

If so, what happened? Moving on to something else?

    Justin,
Perhaps I should "qualify" my answer....the highways were not closed for them, but the indeed had a police escort to Shanghai, and they did not drive the speed limit...at least this is what they boasted. ;)

I didn't doubt you for a minute on the speed limit thing on highways in China, but all i'm saying is, it would NOT have been in Hong Kong (the two are not exactly in the same place). Hong Kong's street regulations had been getting very strict lately, considering we have so little space, today we even have helicopters to track down illegal racing events.

Well, that is not what some of the members said...they implied that they got out in the very early morning hours for some "spirited" driving around HK...

But hey, I have no personal experience, just what I told by them (the Seattle Ferrari Club of America members had dinner with the HK Ferrari Club members at the Shanghai race last year).

Well yes, people do speed here, i myself do at times in my crappy car too, but as far as the police are concerned, they would never 'open roads' for you to do so ya know what i mean? Just don't believe everything the HK Fcar club people say :)

I guess it doesn't need to be Ferrari-related anymore here. Game on
