There was one at TMS quite a while ago. I believe it was due to the wall coming off of the banking, cannot recall.

There was the one two years ago at Disney, when the track was running reverse.

And this one, where they hit the wall and the car burst into flames.

Quite a mortality check for those of us who instruct in the right seat and who also do these kinds of arrive and drive events. I just returned from Houston last weekend where I spent a few days instructing in Huracans, 458's, R8's, etc. (and a new NSX!) This kind of thing goes through my mind more and more. But after 14, maybe 15 years of right seat instructing, I know what to expect and do consider the risks.

Godspeed and many thoughts to the families involved.

You're a braver man than I. I have major trust issues with anyone behind the wheel. Ask my wife.

How many times has this happened? People who dont have any track experience all of sudden is being asked to play race driver for a few hours. He wants to get his moneys worth and drive like their hair is on fire.

It does not matter if the other guy is an experienced instructor. The important thing is how much time have the driver been in a sports car and drive 120-140 mph in a circuit.

How many accidents more before they realize its not a controlled environment. Its too dangerous.

I was thinking the same thing. I can see them working up to bigger cars in the future.
