Does anyone have experience installing a racing seat in a 355 Spider? I understand that the factory seats are linked to the convertible top to move when the top is lowered and raised. Can you remove the factory seats and install a standard racing seat without causing problems with the convertible top? What type of racing seat did you install?

    Thanks.

i'd be surprised if it worked without major effort. the spider seats were carefully engineered to coordinate with the top.

though the spider seats are pretty lame, comfort-wise, so if you can figure out how to do it, i bet others would be damn interested.

    doody.

EDIT: and i don't mean "engineered" in terms of the ballet of movement, i mean that the seats are decidedly differently designed than the GTB/GTS seats in order to make the whole thing work (much much thinner backs, etc.).

Another point - you'll have to get a fairly thin racing seat. Wide racing seats will not fit between the e-brake surround and the center console. You can remove the e-brake surround for a touch more room, but double-measure everything to make sure that your chosen seat will bolt in.
