I read the other thread, and since I have a different view on the topic than most fchatters...I started a new thread. I'm an enthusiast and love ALL cars, so please keep things positive.

I don't like to lose...so...I sent my F430 to Kevin & KC at Underground Racing to R&D and build the motor, twin turbo setup, clutch, etc. My 430TT put down 890rwhp on 93 octane in 90F+ last month. I ran it once at the Texas mile, and was gear limited to ~200mph a bit past the 1/2 mile mark. The best the F458 ran at the Texas Mile was 173mph :) I'll run pretty much anything worthy (yes, a heavily modded WRX is worthy). I will run any bike that will run me :) My girlfriend Danika ran 2 runs in my 430TT (boost turned down to 4.5psi) at 178mph and 183mph+, I told the guy driving the 458 (not his car) he was going to get beaten by a girl. :) She was coasting at the the finish (the car is only tech spec to under 190mph).

I drive my street cars daily, hard, and fast. I believe Ferraris are meant to be driven, FAST. I don't mind getting them hot, dirty, and if I break something, that's what replacement parts are for :) If I want something beautiful to look at....I'll look at Danika or my sons :)

I don't care how much money you spend on a car, losing ALWAYS tastes the same.

    Enjoy the pix and videos!

Now, if those aren't enough to win...I can always bring out my race spec Lamborghinis :) Both can max out the UGR dyno @ 1800whp+ if needed. I run these cars at the Texas Mile, and had the 5 fastest speeds. I do all my own driving. We should have some videos up from the October 2010 Texas Mile soon! http://www.texasmile.net

Video from March 2010 Texas Mile in my race Gallardo: (240.3mph) The motec speedo on screen is not in kph and is not calibrated. Its a wild ride as you can see from the start, all 4 wheels spinning past triple digits :)

The video against the 2010 Superleggera is impressive. The Superleggera is as fast as the 458 Italia, sick.

What kind of tires are you running for speeds exceeding 200 mph? I'm not sure there are that many tires that can tolerate those speeds.

Toyo R888 Y speed rated (above 186mph). The tires are always a concern, but remember that time and heat at speed are just as important. I'm covering the back half mile in less than 8 seconds. Braking in less than 1/2 mile on such a rough surface (watch the youtube video) is very tricky as well. More drama past the finish line than before.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z5qmL_Wbt8A

For perspective, a Bugatti Veyron only hits hits 205mph at the end of 1mile. I'm at 225mph+ at the half mile (imagine what the distance between the 2 cars would be in a side to side race at the end of a mile).

I fully understand the calculated risks I am taking. It's extremely dangerous, and most people wouldn't climb into a 1000hp car much less a 2000hp+ car. Its a flat airport runway in a controlled environment. My cars have roll cages built by a nascar fab shop, fire suppression systems, parachutes, etc. I have the best team building my cars (Underground Racing based out of Charlotte NC), and I spare no expense when it comes to safety.

Crazy is a matter of perspective, living life any other way would be crazy for me. I value my life greatly, and I enjoy every day :)

I didn't realize Underground was a sponsor. They build the best cars. You are wasting your money anywhere else. I know people love to mod their cars, and I have wasted plenty of money for silly mods over the years. 1 ride in one of my cars will change your mind on spending $5k for intakes, etc. :)

That wasn't my car that went airborne. I don't use the parachute in my cars to stop. I am running the stock Lamborghini 8 piston front calipers and stock rear calipers with girodisc rotors and upgraded pads. I run the same setup on my street lp560. At those speeds, braking is not simply stomping on the pedal :) The runoff surface at the Texas Mile is ****ty to say the least....most 200mph+ cars that have problems are in the shutdown and not the actual mile itself. I would love a new venue.

Underground racing does all their video work in house, I am fortunate they do that as I rarely take pictures of my own cars. My 430TT hasn't lost yet. I drive the car so much, I keep it at 15psi or lower at all times to minimize drivetrain risk. We don't know the weak points yet in the drivetrain as its the first TT430. Need to break some parts first before they can R&D stronger billet parts.

I passed on my 458 couple allocation months ago, and am waiting for a 458 spyder. It will go directly to Underground to be built. 458TT will be amazing...

That guy's name was Jason Cammisa. He is a writer for Automobile magazine.
He seemed like a very nice guy. I didn't get to see the 458 run. It already had a flat tire when I arrived......

BTW, thanks again for letting me borrow your helmet!!!

I met so many people, I forgot his name was Jason. He was very nice. I expected the 458 to run closer to 180 in the mile, he was trying LC and no-LC. I forget which he said was faster.

Anytime, I have extra sets of racing gear for guests.

Glad to see you at the Mile Rich! You coming in March? Maybe boost your G and join the 200mph club?

Yes, I am coming in March. I plan on bringing 2 cars. The G and the SL65. I am also going to bring the RV next time. I am looking for an enclosed "stacker" trailer so I can load 2 cars onto it and tow it behind the RV.

I *am* going to have the G boosted, but I am going to wait until after the Mile in March to do it. I want to run the G and the SL65 together, in stock form to see how they compare on the same day.

I ran across a video that someone made of a few of the cars at the Texas Mile..... My G is in it 3 times, and I noticed your 430 is in it at least twice......

Speaking of the SL65.........you had mentioned racing it against your M5........ Sounds like that would be fun..... When do you want to do that? :)

    Thanks for the link.

When I get back in the country let's talk on the M5 vs sl65. I'll even leave the 2 Recaro car seats (empty) in my M5 :) We can mount my camera system in your car, I have always wanted to see and hear my M5 from the rear. :)

I leave out for North Carolina later this week for some drag racing, and visit Detroit Speed to see the progress on my 73 Trans Am build S.W. is helping me with. Among SW's many talents, he is quite an expert on Trans Am's.

I agree with krzys. Enzo Ferrari didn't spend thousands of hours trying to design AA Fuel dragsters, which by the way, accelerate 0-100mph in less than one second, making all your exotics look like toys by comparison. He designed works of art which turn both left and right and brake and accelerate over many different types of roads and courses. In fact, why not just have a Bonneville Salt Flats course and race the car until the engine blows up. Then you can say, "Hey! My car just went 300+mph right before it blew up and I had to throw it away because I obviously have more money than sense!"

Hmm, I think the Sultan of Brunei already did that. Then again......I'll bet it is a lot of fun!!!!
