Hi all. I have a 2008 F430 inbound, arriving in a few weeks. Have a few questions:

    1. Where do folks get the carbon fiber cup holders to replace the ashtray? (F1 car not stick.) Tons of older posts on them here but I struggled to find a current one.

    2. I haven’t used a radar detector or laser jammer in probably 15 years - just use Waze all the time and try not to drive like a jerk and be aware of my surroundings. But thinking maybe a red Ferrari is going to attract a bit more attention. What are the good ones these days, and how difficult is it to hard wire into a 430?

    3. Dash cams - similar question- went down a rabbit hole of on-line research and videos and my head’s exploding. I want very small but very high resolution front and rear cameras that include passive/parking and collision capture modes. And ideally would hardwire if it doesn’t require taking the car apart. Thoughts/recommendations?

    4. Spacers - what mild wheel spacers do those of you who have them use just to get that flush wheel well look - nothing aggressive, just want to avoid the sunken wheel look. This car has Scud wheels.

    Thanks! Cheers

You should be able to get the cup holder and wheel spacers at https://exoticcargear.com/ . The owner, Dave, is a good guy, and their stuff is very good quality. They are also really good at refinishing carbon if you ever need that as well. Exotic Car Gear had the cracked carbon shifter and steering wheel redone for my Porsche, and the results were amazing. According to your profile, you are in Philadelphia, which should be near their actual location, so you could call them up and make arrangements for local pickup if you wanted.

For Radar detectors. I spent about $400+ upgrading my Valentine one, and to be honest, with Waze on Apple CarPlay, I never use it. I found that more often than not, with the radar detector, the notifications blend into the ambient sound, and I ignore them. Back in the day, the Valentine one saved me on the PA turnpike, but that was before the idea of crowdsourced traffic advisories was a thing.

For Dash Cam, this is something I have been thinking about myself. You can power one, if you know what you are doing, from the dome light. I guess I have been holding off because I don't drive my car enough, and when I do, it's for a car event, so there is a good chance I have my DJI Osmo Action attached anyway and running with a very large memory card.

Just get a dash camera and run the cable along the top and side windscreen. Or you can just go straight into the power supply. Put in it to the 12 volt supply as loads of spare cable.

I just bought a Uniden R8W radar detector, top of the line as far as my research shows, and have it hardwired to the dome light in my Spider.

Pretty easy to hardwire a radar. Mirror tap will be easiest. I typically use a Blendmount, which connects to the base of the mirror. Looks the be a tight fit on the 430.

Ive had quite a few different detectors, but right now im in love with the uniden r8 hardwired into the dome light. I have it tucked up against the headliner. r3 is a great option if you dont want the arrows and prefer it smaller.
the bel, passport, V1, V2 just were giving to many falses.
