    Hello:

    I bought a Passport X50 Escort 8500 radar detector that has both the cigarette lighter power as well as the cable option. I want to install the cable on my 360. Is this advisable? Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Hey Kenny,
    The X50 8500 is a great detector. If radar/laser is in the area it detects it. I don't know of any problems with the hardwire on a 360. As for the 9500ci, it seems a bit expensive at $1600.00 plus professional installation as escort recommends. If you were considering upgrading I would suggest the 9500i, it has a few features that are very useful.

    The best Escort is no match for the standard V1. The 8500 in particular is weak on Ka band which is predominantly used in AZ for mobile photo radar installations. I have run both together in the same car and the V1 picks up the photo van at least 100 yards away. The Escort barely makes a peep as it comes level with the van. My Escort is gathering dust right now and I could not, in good conscience, sell it to anyone.
    I personally wouldn't go to the trouble of hard wiring it in a 360.

    Go to any radar test site and you will see that they are almost identical in k, ka, and x. If radar is in the area you will know it. The v1 is a great unit also.
    Google: radar test or try radarbusterdotcom and check out the test results.

    bottom line: Buy the Valentine 1 and get the laser shifter (jammer) from Escort which is fantastic! It has saved me many many laser tickets for sure! PM me for more info if you wish.

    The Escort 8500 X50 is not even close to the Valentine One.

    You will not get unbiased testing from Radarbusters.com because Radar Roy runs it and he doesn't sell the Valentine One so he leans towards the Bel and Escort products in his testing.

    You will definitely not get unbiased testing from Radartest.com because Craig Peterson runs that site and he works for Bel and Escort so he bashes the V1 every chance he gets. He tried to sabotage the Guysoflidar.com testing but he got caught and had to settle the lawsuit out of court.
