I would suggest the Valentine V1, as will many other people on this forum. It has saved me multiple times. The good part of it is every few years when the technology changes you can send it back to them and they will update the software for a small charge.

I happen to love the V1, and wouldn't consider any other radar detector for my own cars. It has been 100% reliable in picking up police radar. However, the V1 is extremely sensitive, which works very well if you go on a lot of road trips, but can be annoying when driving around urban areas with lots of radar operated sliding doors. If you're going to be driving around those areas primarily, you may want to consider the Passport, which is almost as good as the V1 in terms of features (but without the arrows, which I love), but tends to filter out a few more senseless x-band signals.

Either way, you shouldn't skimp. You really get what you pay for with these types of things.

I'd also recommend the V1's. Been using them for the past 10 years - can't count the number of times it has saved me.

Valentine looks the best and if you are following cars in a pack you can get away with it. If you are flying solo and get hit with instant on or laser you are DOA. Good luck I usually put an egg under my gas peddle and it keeps me out of trouble.

Valentine One is the Sh?t. The V1 has saved me so many times with the signal counter and the arrows. I threw my Passport in the trash after I got a ticket when it identified a signal, but because it couldnt tell me how many or where, I rolled right into a second consecutive trap. But once again, as an earlier response stated, if it is laser, the warning means get ready to stop if your over the cops predetermined limit.

Mind you if they install the V1 correctly it is very easy to change out the unit when they have updates for the software. I have my V1 display custom installed in my S4 in the ashtray and love it (the controller is installed in the roof liner to receive the signals) because it is completely stealth and all I have to do is just close the ashtray cover and no one knows it is there. :) Think about getting the laser jammers too, both the V1 and jammers have paid for themselves time and time again. Which car are you putting this in, your 430 or Benz? Drop me a line.

Escort X50 Passport 8500 has been my pick. It terms of views, it comes neck-and-neck with the Valentine and a little cheaper. I had it hardwired on my 911 and plan to transfer it to my 360 now.

Its the same exact thing as the white one. I just have multiple EZ pass readers on one account so its easy to track them. Personal accounts are white and business accounts are blue.

If losing to the Valentine One by 400-1000 feet (about 1 to 3 football fields) in radar detection is considered running neck and neck, then the 8500 X50 is running neck and neck with the V1.

I concur with everyone that reccommended the V1. It's awesome. I had a guy in CT install it into my rear view mirror. He scratches the coner of the mirror out for the indicator light. It takes some getting used to bu it almost is like a HUD display in a jet. He also put in front and rear K-40's for laser. Its probably overkill but what the hell.
