In a recent discussion in the silver section many people seem to still prefer the Valentine 1.

I watch a lot of automotive youtube videos. All the best ones journalists recommend the V1. Its upgrade-able. The direction finder is still really the only one. As the Doc says above, this plus Waze is probably the best you can get.

Escort has good ones but they have this subscription model to get more user info. I think thats kind of a lot to ask when waze is free. But in the end, they are a company looking for new revenue streams and it costs money to support.

How can someone pinpoint a sighting if you pass it while fiddling with the smart phone? In the time to enter it, the position is a half mile or more past. I guess you just know that they're out there in a x-mile radius.

Also - Scares me to count on it 'cause what if the patrol car just nestled into position as you zoom by? Before it gets recorded. Too late :(

That's what I love about the track.

Just takes pressing one button to report a cop or confirm the presence of a cop (or at least that's the way it used to be-- I no longer use Waze now that it's owned by Skynet) so it's easier than adjusting your climate control as long as your phone is on a windshield mount.

Nothing is perfect, including the best radar/laser detector. But lots of people swear by Waze, especially in combination with a good detector. I'd still be using it to this day if it weren't a Google subsidiary.
