Any recommendations/experience for purchase and installation of a radar for my F430 in Houston? Not looking for something too fancy, just solid tested unit and experienced installer.

Be sure and get the Escort Passport 9500ci. It has a laser scrambler. All the other detectors are only going to tell you that you are about to get a ticket. The 9500 actually scrambles the laser so it cannot get a reading.

Sorry I haven't kept up for awhile, but doesn't Valentine One offer anything comparable?

Is Escort back on top as the "best" to get?

Good question. I am hesitant to pay $2k ( installed) for a radar detector. From what I am reading, most PDs are using lasers ( I got checked twice today going into Dallas). They are the ones that have rifle scopes pointed at you. They are very accurate and the beam does not scatter or diverge ( like a spotlight) so it is not detectable unless you are the car being targeted.
