Don't leave home without one anymore. I have an Escort 8500 (concealed) and saved my a$$ many times. Yes there are false alarms but when you are driving your daily routine you know you will always get the false alarms in the same place. Then when an alarm goes off in a place where normally there is none, time to be on your best behavior. No tickets in Ferrari. 2 tickets in SUV with no detector. Latest ticket -- 60 in a 50, a speed trap and competely avoidable if I had my radar detector.

Word of caution, if you're going super fast, like 150 or so, not much will help you. Even if you hit brakes hard they'll still get you at 100 or so. So its not complete immunity.

Escort has some defense against instant on laser. Cant speak for V1.

Laser is not common in Florida... They prefer using planes or just regular Ka radar...

With that being said, I have been using an Escort 8500 for about 2 years and it has saved me multiple times..

last weekend we did a Ferrari/Lambo/Porsche run and we were clocked by a plane on I-75 towards Naples... The radar was silent the whole time... I was surprised to run into 20 Troopers behind an overpass.

Whenever they clock you via plane, it is a whole lot easier to fight the ticket than with laser.

fyi here's a pic of the escort laser shifting module. BTW, my cousin is a hiway patrolman in Washington, uses laser, said force going to laser there, maybe because it is cheaper and more accurate (to select a single car in a group of cars).

Maybe not legal in all states, as usual, so it can be turned of when necessary. BTW, as I understand it, it shifts the laser once then turns off. That is to keep it legal, otherwise I guess it interferes with police business. So on first try cop get ERR back, then hits you again and will get accurate reading on second try.

No experience with it yet, so we'll see.

So, how effective is laser if you don't have front
license plate or holder on the car??

I leave off the front plate, as it doesn't mount well...

Its on the rear only. Nothing for the front (only sensors). Not sure why the system is designed that way. I don't have a plate on the front either. Just got me thinking, what would a plate on the front of a 575 look like? It can't be good...
