I am considering getting an escort passport 9500ci. I want a clean install that is 100% reversible. I have a black interior with red stitching and was going to get all components lit in red instead of blue and was also considering getting the display built into the actual rear view mirror behind the glass itself. Does anybody have pictures of their install they would like to share? Thanks.

    Do you mean 9500xi?

The ci (laser jammers along with the radar system) is completely hidden. You place two sensors which are the laser shifters, behind the front bumper or in the grills. The only thing that will be in the car is a small 3" x 1" (perhaps larger, not exact dimensons) which you can place in a location where you can remove it if needed and a speaker, IIRC.

I don't have the system, but have used it before on a friend's car. I did not do the install either.

i have a 9500ci (custom installed) on my 458 with black interior and red stitching. I recommend it, it's a great system. i can try to get pics... but overall, i had the buttons installed in the bottom area of the center console (piece to the right of your legs) and below the leather piece. It looks nice custom installed in within the metal, but you may find it easier to just stick it on the side of the center console to the right of your leg, somewhat hidden and still easy to reach.

I had the display built into the bottom part of the mirror (not inside the mirror, but within the plastic, which was remolded). I kept it as blue, particularly because i have the same system in my other car and just wanted to keep consistency in display colors.

I do have the display built into my mirror in my other car and I like it. But during the day, it can be tough to see the display easily... but it works and is "clean" looking.

I did laser shifters front and rear. They had to remove from bumper to do it right.

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Search YouTube....keywords "9500 ci Ferrari 458".

A couple of videos will come up.

I have read on this forum that Kevin Wright from Audio Illusions is the man for 9500 ci installs. (Located in Southern California).

Thanks for the replies. Trust me, I have spent a lot of time on the internet looking at 458 related stuff. I think I am going to go and get the install done but want it to be 100 reversible. Also, I want the best possible install. It was useful to hear that the rear view mirror was hard to see during the day. I wondered if it might be to intrusive. IS the system easy yo turn off so you don't have to deal with chirps around the city when you just want to relax? Best to you all.

If you put the display inside the rear view mirror (radar-mirror.com), then I recommend putting it in the top right corner. You will be able to see it when you need to, but sometimes you just have to tilt your head so the display reflects off of black background rather than the street behind you. It's ok and definitely a clean install and reversible if you want since you don't see it when it's off or you can just buy a new mirror (although expensive).

They do have to remove the front bumper to install the system. very important for the laser shifters to be facing exactly forward and as absolutely level as possible. Also, you can put the control panel to the right of your leg via a strong sticker so that it's easy to remove whenever you want to remove the system. also, if you have it there, you can use the integrated on/off button if you needed. My control panel is installed flush within the metal console in the middle (so the regular on/off button wasn't accessible), so we installed a separate on/off button under the dash.

The GPS works really well and you should have very few false alarms once you start driving a few times in various areas. It learns well and you won't really turn your system off very often.

I had the escort installed, see below link for pictures...the front laser/jammers are hidden below the bumper so you don't see them, but at the rear, according to The installer only place to install, you can see the jammer at the license plate location....and at the interior you can see the monitor is placed on the left side of the steering wheel, and you can easily turn it off.

This escort has worked VERY well for me, or let me state, no tickets.

Thanks for the replies. They have roads patrolled by aircraft here. I assume they don't need radar? I am thinking I may only use the radar detector on the highway and in this case am considering just a V1 I can plug into my car and switch between cars.

I thought radar detectors were illegal in Canada. Can't have them in your car even if they are not turned on.

I always find this comment funny... Mainly because speeding is illegal, yet that doesn't seem to stop us.... So why not put in a radar detector too?

Radar detectors and laser shifters are legal in some provinces and illegal in others.

Hate to offer up anothers time, but Fchat member Arnie has a very stealth installation done on his new 458. Saw him at a C&C in NJ a few weeks ago where he showed the install---only thing visible inside is two led's on the top of the column, outside just the two little black sensors front and back. Looked great! Maybe Arnie could help with details of install/photos if you ask nicely.

Arnie---hope I'm not being too forward here. Thanks for your openness and willingness to show off the spoils of your hard work to those who aren't quite there yet (i.e., myself)

No problem it is totally stealth. It is a K40. Originally I wanted the Escort system because of the database of red light cameras but was not thrilled with the mounting of the control unit on the side of the console because it is hard to see and use. The K40 has all the same features except for the red line camera and the app for sharing speed traps. It has the ability to mute known building X band door openers because it has GPS.

The mounting is cool 2 units in each side of the front grill and one in the back by the license plate. Inside they mount 2 tiny LEDS that are mounted in the steering column one for the rear radar and laser jammer and one for the front. It has a tiny remote control that controls all the functions. I like the fact that the interior is basically untouched except for the tiny LEDs on the steering column. It also has voice if you want.
