Do you mean to tell me with all the Friggin' Dino experts here, NOBODY knows which one is the right one??? Am I gonna have to beg a concours judge for an answer?? C'mon fella, give me the answer!!! Dave
Type #4 is correct to the best of my knowledge. See attached photo. ...Keith Image Unavailable, Please Login
Keith even has the correct Green cavis tube. I can't tell the difference between the two eared #3 and #4 from the images, but #4 is what you get when you by a correct, NOS overflow tank (ask OMGjon what he received when he recently replaced his). I also thought the 4 eared caps go on 308 Dinos not 246 Dinos but John Giordanengo's Pinot Verde Chairs and Flares 246 GTS has won numerous concours and he swears that the 4 eared is correct, so I could be wrong...
Watch out for the cap from Superformance, the pressure relief doesn't work, the hoses are rock hard when engine is hot. This goes for my M- series. I was lucky to find out this before something happend due to a very high pressure in the cooling system. Measure your self the travel of the spring and compare with the expansiontank. Bought one from Dinoparts- perfect, but maybe not original. In general Dinoparts supply a lot better quality components than Superformance. Ciao/ Bjorn
I have had some luck with dinoparts.de, and yes, I do agree that the few parts I've purchased there appear to be very high quality. #5 is correct according to T.Rutlands. #4 is the one Dennis McCann sells. Guess I'll get both and let a judge sort it out for me. DM
i have a #2 cap on my 74 dino. can't say for certain that it is original, but the car really hasn't been messed with that much. based on the comments posted here, i was surprised to see the #2 style leading in the pole. either we are all idiots and looked at our cars and chose #2, or #2 is the most common form of replacement cap available "back then".
#2 is what we have, though I have no idea whether it might have been replaced at some point. (I didn't cast a vote.) It is a one-owner car, however...
+1, you should have seen the brake rotors I got from dinoparts.de, very nice. Their alternator fuse box was completely wrong (12 fuse std block) and returning it was prohibitively costly I recall Rutlands sent me a #4 two years ago for my purchase, but I'll have to double check.
here's what is on the car now. I know it's wrong. It's 1.1 bar and it says 11/96 on it. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Does anyone know where I can get the #5 cap? This was the cap that was on my 73 Euro when I bought it, I believe to be original, but it is now cracked. I have a replacement in but it looks like none of the above For others with a 73 Euro or US which cap do you guys have? Thx.
I have owned my Dino since '74 and it has the original cap. It looks more like #5 but with less printing (single line like #4 with arrows) -also with a larger top washer then #4- it completely fills the depression. I could take a picture if anyone is interested.
Scott- Mine does not say FIM. Viewed from the top it says FEST SCHLIESSEN with an arrow to the right under it (CW) and LANGSAM OFFNEN with and arrow to the left above it (CC). On the right ear it is marked 6.0. That is the only markings.
My late '72 Euro GT has a cap like example "4." 'don't know if it's original; 'don't know if it's correct. Coop
