When I was preparing my car for FCA concours judging in 2018, I bought the factory foam pieces.

The lower/forward piece was fine, but the upper/rear piece was horrible. It was made of two thin pieces which had been glued together to make the spec thickness. I returned it and made my own out of Home Depot foam. The judges never noticed.

The factory front piece is not rectangular but it is not triangular either. Refer to the photo below. My rear piece forges the factory piece except for the half circle cutout I made for the washer bottle lid which rides high in my car.

Note how the foam gets permanently crushed from being compressed against the radiator and spare tire tub.

BTW, I may have put on my front foam backwards: I’m not sure.

I was (very) surprised at how much putting in good foam reduced cabin heat.

attached is pic of original radiator foam piece so you can check orientation. I think yours in on backwards. The vertical face should be in front. Not that it really matters for function. And depending on how much Vino the assemblers had for lunch, it probably could have come either way, from the factory

Not surprised. Back in Dallas at the nationals in 01 I had to explain to a judge what the trouble light socket was used for.

I removed the old foam and put on the new foam this past weekend.

I wasn't sure how to get it on either side of the radiator so I just kind of jammed it in there with a putty knife...

I don't have any way to get under the car so the only area I was not able to add new insulation was under the radiator. But when I take the car in for it's yearly maintenance next spring, I'll have it added there as well.

It was sunny this afternoon so I took it out for a drive. I'm curious to see how much this will help the radiator once the warm weather returns. I did noticed the gas and exhaust fumes were more potent inside the cabin - not sure if there's anything else going on but I'm attributing it to less fresh air getting into the cabin from the front. Anyone else have a similar experience?
