Anyone here study it? I've been a member on imminst.org for a few years (here's a thread I started about one of the last SENS conferences http://www.imminst.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=18091&hl=Michael++Rose I try to make all the serious conferences like SENS and The Singularity Summit.

I'd love to go into a long winded post about why we will achieve RLE within our lifetimes, Law of accelerating returns, advanced cryogenics (vitrification) and nanobots, but I wasn't sure if you guys are familiar with the subject matter.

My two favorite topics: Women and F cars are great, but I'd rather be 25 and broke than 70 with a billion bucks. Aging sucks.

I'd like to have the body of a 21 year old w the wisdom of a 70 year old :)

The way I see it I've lived a life beyond the dreams of most people

I need to stick around another 25 years or so to guide my son after that, whatever

I suppose when I cant have sex anymore and I cant drive I'll go into politics and mess with whoever I dont like at full force

At that point there wont be much they can do to me :)

That's gonna be the really weird part of life extension. You'll see people who are in fact 70, but look in almost every way like a 30 year old. The terms "biological age" and "chronological age" will become increasingly common in order to differentiate between the 2.

I think owning an F40 would qualify as "beyond the dreams of most people" ;)

+infinity. I've been looking into a lot of these things as well, and I do believe we will figure out how to considerably retard aging at some point. Problem is, when will that happen? I've been doing all I can at a younger age to try to get ahead (or should that be behind? :) of the curve -- diet, exercise, and certain supplements. Seems to be going well as my actual age is supposedly 9 (!) and most people think I'm 5-8 years younger than I am...but I know that without a significant breakthrough, the other shoe will fall. Good genes, antioxidants, and exercise go a long way, but we're still on the ground floor.

The change that's happening right now is deceptive, because change itself is speeding up and by some estimates, we will achieve 20,000 years of progress by 2100 AD. We're entering the second half of the chessboard where the numbers and pace of change will become staggering, eventually resulting in smarter than human AI where we can't even imagine what lies beyond it.

with the right amount of research funding and the continuation of Moores Law we WILL achieve radical life extension within a few decades, or we're screwed because their will be too few workers to support an old and frail population.

check out this site for a basic rundown, http://sens.org/ Aubreys a good guy and he knows his $h!t. Not to mention their are new scientists joining the ranks everyday, who are likewise convinced we can reverse and cure aging well within our lifetimes.

I would feel a lot better if that Audry guy looked younger....don't know his real age, but he appears to be in his 60s from the picture....

I've read a few sci fi stories about immortals or peopl who live for centuries like Dorian Grey

I imagine things could get rather stale unless you radically change your life every few decades

These days you'd need to create false IDs every few decades

On the other hand you could amass an enormous fortune and become a major player in world hsitory but remain in the shadows

That's the whole point, I don't want to be "out"...ever.

If you want to loose everyone you care for by watching them slowly suffer through the torture known as aging, i think you're the one who's nuts.
