FWIW, the revised list of banned communications; So, Merc should be able to cover any "weakness" in their braking system. Cheers, Ian
There are two rules that address the brakes specifically and more that might be interpreted to. Whenever they clarify things get muddier.
Possibly. But, although they can't compare what he's doing relative to his 'mate, they can now tell him if he's got any "issues", and to adjust the bias etc - Both of which were initially outlawed. Cheers, Ian
Let them have at it. Sure, we get tired of the two protagonists for this year's championship whine about one another during races. The problem is, radios have been a part of racing now for a long time. As has been pointed out, they're vital for safety aspects and planning strategy, etc. If, as they're doing as Singapore this weekend, using limited communications, how are these implemented at mid-season rules going to be enforced? Are they going to take away a victory by Hamilton or Rosberg if they say the wrong thing to their engineer during the race? Where does it all end? Also, what is the point in having all the telemetry if the team cannot communicate to the driver what is going on with the car? They're overthinking this stuff and who was the catalyst for bringing this notion forward to begin with? It all smacks of NASCAR theatrics. BHW
FWIW, there's a poll running at Pitpass right now on the question; They're obviously not as "sophisticated" as us, it simply asks if you agree or disagree with the clampdown. Unfortunately, it doesn't show the # of votes - I thought it would and didn't notice how much my vote changed the results - If someone could note the before & after when they vote and report back, we could figure it out..... Cheers, Ian It's right on their homepage. Just scroll down a little: pitpass - the latest, hottest F1 news
I thought that too!..... I also had the F1 app running where you get to hear a lot more radio than on the TV - It wasn't quite as 'blatant' as before, but they were very definitely giving out a lot of 'time' advice. I suspect they'd been told that while Charlie was listening, unless it was a completely 'obvious' message no penalties would be forthcoming. Maybe they were 'pushing it' deliberately. I'm hoping Charlie is now listening to the recordings in his hotel and will issue further 'clarifications' soon. Whether that will help or, as you say, further muddy the waters remains to be seen..... Remember, the state of play was that further tightening will be coming ahead of Japan..... We'll see. Cheers, Ian
Either ban them entirely or let them at it. Any compromise will be inequitable to one party or another. See: Ox, gored, whose.
Gotta be honest, I'm starting to lean that way too! Let them at it!.... If they choose to tell their guys who's gaining/losing ground wherever, that's their business. As Procoach would note, it should make them *all* quicker! And where's the harm in that? Cheers, Ian
You may be right. I'd have thought a better idea would have been for them to copy what Merc were doing though? Cheers, Ian
Possibly.... However, IIRC, wasn't Hammy whining earlier in the season that he had his own strategist at Mclaren, whereas now there's just one (team?) for both of them? Cheers, Ian
They were allowed separate squads earlier. Perhaps MB saw fit to excerise a bit of control over the Battlin' Bickersons.
Mclaren crying foul over Ricci's podium. Like i said before, radios should only be used to inform drivers about yellow flags, warnings, crashes, which lap to pit, and perhaps to inform the driver to retire the car if needed to. That's all. Just let them drive..
