    Interesting interview with Kimi in Autosport following an appearance for Bridgestone in front of 400 elementary school children.

    He stated that as long as he has been on the team there is no #1 designation of drivers between him and Massa.

    When asked about Villeneuve's comments concerning Lewis Hamilton's "dangerous driving", Kimi took the high road and said he did not want to get involved in that situation. He said he has not been close enough to Hamilton to determine his driving style, but he just wants to beat Lewis.

    As far as I've read, that's been Ferrari's position all along. I thought I remembered reading a quote from Todt that said they'd be encouraging competition among the drivers and that they're both free to race each race like it was their own (This isn't word for word, just a general outline).

    They can't pit at the same time, so someone is running a lighter fuel load in qualifying...right? Isn't that a 'de facto' advantage typically reserved for the top dog?

    I have always thought that the #1 driver is the one who is performing better in any given season, at a time when the team has to get behind one driver so he will have the best chance at winning.

    If Kimi doesn't pick it up real soon, then by mid-season, if he still lags Massa then he's going to quickly find himself the #2 driver. Hasn't happened yet, but it could and will if he doesn't git wit da program.

    As for pit stops, I believe in McLaren (or maybe it was Renault) the driver with the better quali time gets to choose his fuel strategy and ergo his pit strategy, thereby leaving the other guy to take whatever is left.

    But you will get a better time with less fuel, knowing you can pit early in the race so how do they decide ?

    best quali time => pit strategy

    or

    Pit strategy => Less fuel => Best Quali time ?


    I would think carrying more fuel for 1/2 laps wouldnt be that much of a difference ??

    I find it amusing that you believe team orders exist at McLaren but not at Ferrari...

    No, sorry Ted, I must not have stated that clearly. Team orders are on every team, maybe more so at Ferrari. But team orders do not have anything to do with driver designation. Track performance does. I would think that at this time, Ferrari's team orders change race to race depending on who is in better form. All that matters to Ferrari is the Constructor's Championship.

    I wonder though, if at the end of the season, Kimi is leading a race, but Massa is fighting for the WDC, and in second, would Kimi be "told" to let him by by some unfortunate pit delay?
