World champion Kimi Raikkonen is staying cool ahead of the Turkish Grand Prix despite failing to fight for pole on Saturday.

The championship leader will start from fourth position, behind teammate Felipe Massa and the two McLaren drivers, after failing to match the pace of the leading trio.

Raikkonen, however, remained calm about his starting place and is still hopeful he will be able to fight for victory.

He also admitted a driving error during his second run in Q3 had cost him a better result.

"Obviously, I would have preferred to have been further up the grid, but this position is definitely not the end of the world," said Raikkonen. "What matters is the race when the points are given out. We are up against very strong opposition, which is no surprise to us.

"Of course, there's a question mark over fuel loads and we won't get an answer to that until the first pitstops tomorrow afternoon.

"I am a bit disappointed but I made mistakes on my second lap in Q3 and I have to accept that: I didn't go into the final corner before the pit straight quite right and lost a lot of speed.

"We can count on a car that is good over a distance and we will try and make the most of it, trying to get as many points as possible. Winning is never easy, but I'll give it a go."

Speed TV showed the in car footage of the last turn and I couldn't believe it was Kimi driving. He lost a lot of time so I'm sure he knows he will competitive tomorrow.

Kimi's been very good off the line too I wouldn't be surprised if he jumps at least 1 of the mclarens tomorrow. I'm guessing he's heavier on fuel too which should allow him to gain at least 1 more spot during the 1st or 2nd round of pit stops. Of course you never know what's going to happen but let's hope for the best. As long as Kimi gets more points than LH I'll be content for now.

Kimi will do just fine. If he can' pass Felipe during a pit stop, he will at least finish second. Points, points, points.

+1 I wouldn't be surprised if we had a Ferrari 1-2 going into the first corner, it's pretty much agreed upon that Ferrari is the best starting team in F1 this year.

I think there's more to it than just ratings and game playing. When you know what time you have to beat you have a definite advantage.
