Rain driving?

Not recommended but the newer the better, it's not Italian My 348 pisses on me from the targa top and well the pictures speak for the Dino.

I don't shy away from the rain in my 348, but then, I live in Scottsdale, Az! I mostly have been in the habit of just rinsing off the several Ferraris I've owned to avoid getting water sitting in areas that might start to rust. But I think on 348's and more modern Ferraris, it's not too much of a concern.

Of course, I'd never take my car through an automatic brush car wash. However, a couple times I did take it through a power-spray wash (no brush). The 3rd time I did that, my car ran terrible afterwards! When I got to the Cars & Coffee, I actually POURED (not dripped) water from a couple of my electrical connections.

Although I've installed Dave Helms' Gold Connector kit, and thought that my original inner seals were making good enough contact to avoid that, high-pressure water still got in! Dave does mention those as still a possible concern with dust intrusion, if nothing else. Not sure if Dave now can provide thicker seals for these, but I plan to either find or make some! Wouldn't expect this kind of problem with just rain, though. But a word to the wise!!

 

Rust is much less a concern with modern Ferraris. Ferrari only started applying rust proofing to the body panels in the middle 80's, and got more serious about it in later years.

 

I drive my 355 in the rain with no concerns.
Heck, when you wash your car you essentially put it through the effects of rain anyways.
I been through every panel in and underneath the car and there is no rust whats-so-ever.
Of course I don't drive in the winter salt though.......
