Sunday, April 02, 2006 - 08:00 AM Ralf Schumacher's breakthrough podium could be snatched away by the stewards, with suggestions that the Toyota driver illegitimately passed Nick Heidfeld (BMW-Sauber) under yellow flags. The rumour would explain the fact that official confirmation of the Albert Park results have not yet been published by the governing body, the FIA. Indeed, Germany's Heidfeld said his compatriot passed him 'within metres' of yellow flags to indicate a safety car period. He finished behind Ralf, in fourth place.
I wondered about this right after the race. How does Ralf have 3 stops(the only one to have 3 in the top 10) and a penalty and still wind up 3rd ? His car wasn't teriffically fast so he had to have passed under one of the many the yellows at some point. I'd be surprised if he hangs on to third.
Well they took away Speed's result, might as well do the same to Ralf. Consistancy would make sence, but when has the FIA made sence?
Would be wonderful to see Quick Nick on the podium. Or at least honored with the 3rd place. BTW: BMW had a fantastic race, particularly Villeneuve. Bemoaned by many on here, he did a great job.
Did ralf just pass Heidfeld or did he pass others that later fell out of the race like Jenson and montoya?
The local ch10 coverage we had, showed the incar Tcam and ppl passing Nick while on yellows. Now I wish I taped the race to replay it. It was more deliberate then the Speed incident, which is strange why they picked on him 1st. Also Monty should of gone to the back?
