Hi all, I'm now ready with my 246GT project and need a new project, on the "wanted list": An 246GT project, ideally a one that lost all it's cosmetic components, but still have it's body and drivetrain, ok I know-it's hard or impossible to find. Any one building a race/rally Dino?
There is the L series on e-bay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1969-FERRARI-246GT-DINO-RARE-KNOCK-OFF-WHEELS_W0QQitemZ260149431563QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item260149431563
Amazing. A car in pieces sells for $85K. Interesting that they showed rust-eroded holes that had been primed-over before repair. Maybe they thought they would magically heal themselves. I'd also be curious to know what parts, if any, are missing; God help the new owner if so- many L-series parts are unobtainium.
I agree with Robert. I hope the owner plans to hold onto this car for a long time because a thorough restoration on this car will be a small fortune. That body is in rough shape and finding parts will be a challenge.
There is a "done" race car on Classic Drivers or Anamera. Its in europe and is blue with a yellow stripe. Then there is the rusted example in NY that appears in the thread "Any beaters about." They want $30K.
Call Frank at Classic Coach in Elizabeth, NJ. There is a race-prepped Dino upstairs in storage that hasn't been moved in years and is under 5 inches of dust. Has the raised rear and fattened arches and is in pretty ratty shape but should be cheap. Good luck.
Agreed, staggering sale especially that he would prime over areas to hide the problems below. Reading the auction description also pegged my BS meter. I find them distrurbing at the least. "All paint was removed before epoxy primer was applied in July 2007. Both outer frame rails need to be replaced but rest of frame work seems to be in excellent shape. After careful inspection and cleaning I believe 99% of the parts are accounted for. I am a current Dino and 330 owner and are extremely familiar with these cars - I have judged them at Ferrari car shows. "
