We have a 2010 E350 (along with a bunch of other cars...Scud included). Its been a fantastic car, delivered beyond my expectations. Test drove a 2012 MB C63. It has the limited slip, the SLS motor....WOW...I was truly blown away. Fast, fun, solid. The slop trans is gone. I am personally sold (working on the wife) We would debadge it and make it look as non-AMG as possible. A true Q-Ship. Reading online a fully loaded C63 would cost a little over $70k. Has anyone had one of these things as a daily driver? Is it too harsh for daily use?
Try driving a 612. Week or so ago my wife and I were shopping Mercedes AMG 63s & Bentleys CGTs. Drove the 612 to the dealerships and test drove both. The 612 blows away both in raw power - and I now use the 612 as a daily driver. We ultimately decided on the CLS AMG 63 (as a replacement for our aging ML63). The ML63 was a daily driver - as was all our AMGs. (C32, ML55, ML63, ect..). The new AMG engines are fine. I'm sure it will make a great daily driver. BTW - for those that don't know, AMG replaced the bread and butter engine once again. It used to have a normally aspirated 6.3 engine (actually 6.2 something) and they downsized to a 5.5 with a biturbo/twin turbo. Funny you should say gear box - as the engine is close to the 612 in speed, but I thought the gearbox sucked.
I bought my fiance' a CLK63. That is her daily driver. She loves it. She promised me not to drive too fast, and use it in automatic, but I have heard through the grapevine that she loves the paddle shifting, and drives a bit over 55 mph. She loves the car. The C63 is faster, but the CLK63 is a drop top, rare, and plenty fast. Will probably beat a 360 in a drag race, due to the huge torque advantage, rolling race.
Every single one of my customers uses their C63 as a DD.......even mount snow tires in winter. The thing is a ***** cat if you don't stand on the gas.
A friend of mine DDs a 2010 C63 (the new C63 still uses the normally aspirate 6.2 engine, not the turbo 5.5 in the bigger x63 models). When he took it in for his first oil change, he had to get new rear tires at the same time. We got a lot of mileage teasing him about his regular "oil change and tires" appointments!
leave the performance pack alone. suspension will wear you out. e63's and above have the TT 5.5 in them. c still has the na 6.2 in it. you will have fun with it. be warned you will wear out the gas card swiping it and put the discount tire guys kid thru college by the time you are done though. i had the best luck with dunlop star specs on mine. lots of exhaust, ecu mods, superchargers etc out there now for the 6.2 now.
