Interesting. Based on the wear on the brake hoods, it looks like a pretty heavily used bike. Interesting that they would still sell for so much. Have the Lightweights been on the whole time? What kind of condition are they in?
There's one for sale at the bike shop next door to Lamborghini of La Jolla. $11,999. Iirc Image Unavailable, Please Login
That's a new bike and new model frame with up to date components, including electric shifting. You're essentiall comparing a new 488 GTB to a used 360. Just saying.
Hi Sherpa23 the Lightweights are in great condition. I didn't use them all the time, I had a pair of Cosmics I'd swap majority of the time. Hard to know how to price it since a limited edition model, so open to best offer. Thanks,
I'm 6' tall BigTex if that helps. Also, I had the seat post pretty high so there's a lot of room play to be fitted.
Despite people discussing stand-over height, the measurement that actually matters is top tube length. Yes, you can change the stem to adjust reach, but it is a lot more involved and also affects the handling of the bike. Whereas adjusting the height of the seat is easy and neutral. In the past, seat tube length (which is what is usually given, center of bottom bracket to top of top tube) was the same, but for sure no more. I think Colnagos tend to run long, so a 55cm often has a 57 cm top tube. So to put that in perspective, I am 5'10" with long legs (33 inseam) and a relatively short trunk, so I run a 54.5 cm top tube, and this bike would probably be way too long for me, despite me having a lot of exposed seat tube.
Top tube length information is useless without the seat tube angle. If the seat tube angle is on the steeper side, the effective top tube will be much longer than the indicated measurement. FWIW, 10 years ago Colnago measured their bikes c-t and not c-c. This is probably a 57cm in Colnago sizing. One of the first teams I raced for in Europe was sponsored by Colnago and I received a C-40, the predecessor to this bike. It was really hard finding one that fit right because of how they measured their frames. I asked for and received a 55cm but I ended up trading with one of the other pro teams and finally got a 57cm that's probably exactly what this one is. I'm 5'9".
Hey Sherpa23 and J. Salmon you're both right. When I bought the bike I was told it was a 57cm. dsd, note when I purchased the bike new in 2008, it was $15,999.00.
