Looks neat, but the possibility of it coming off in the engine bay at speed would concern me.

LOL oh Dave, you just burst Mikes bubble.

that is vey pretty but considering what Dave just said, how does it stay secure?

Edit ~~ on closer look, i see a set screw in the side, I'm guess this is the way?

    OT..

Mike, did you paint your badges? I think my Mondial badge in the rear needs some touch up, do you have a link? Id like to also paint the orange letters on on my shifter ball.

Its looks awesome. Just that recently my storm door handle keeps getting looser every time we adjust the set screw. Just tightened it up again so its top of mind.

This cap however doesn't have the force of being pulled on much at all. 2x a yr for oil changes? That and gravity is on its side...

Vibration though, maybe some locktite? Glue to the cap??

LoL, its held in by a small allan screw on the sides. I may use some Epoxy Metal Bonding Adhesive to help it stick to the oil cap since this is only a cover.
Trust me, I've tinkered with enough car stuff in my life that I can make it work without falling off!

    cheers

I thought you meant the Scuderia Shields, those are hand made aluminum and stuck on using 3m tape.
The rear badges on mine faded, so I repainted them. Fairly easy to do, just need a steady hand and a fine brush, wipe with cloth alcohol as you go to remove excess paint.

    see thread here:

I'm pretty sure I've got one of those oil caps. I really don't think it's going to come off at high speeds.

I've got no frame of reference with respect to the original cap, but the one that came with my car is as secure as any oil cap I've ever had on any car I've owned to date.

Yep, that looks like it! For the T owners, I think your oil cap already comes with the nice Ferrari logo caps but maybe after 91 and up? Some Ts have the black oil filler caps.
Ted, your 89 T looks to have the plain cap I believe just incase you were wondering.

The 360 engine is a real piece of Art !

BTW, there is an aluminum fuel cap version of this (non magnetic) but very cool.
It fits 308 328 348 355 MONDIAL TR AND MOST OTHER FERRARIS THAT HAVE THE BLACK SCREW ON CAP. Something for the future...

I'm pondering it. I've been pretty busy with design work these days; got a big project due for Decca Records.

I've got that gas cap, too.

Yes, both caps are both from Hill. Very nice quality.

The stock oil cap is a Fiat piece. Just say no.

    Hi Lino,

Try contacting these guys, I think this one fits your T.
I'm not sure which fits the T but its between these 2 part numbers:
    1) Oil Cap, # 145623
    2) Manufacturer Part Number: 185320

Yep Claude, that link only carries the Fuel caps which you can buy off ebay for $100 anytime. The oil caps from Hill Eng remains elusive!
Today, I got the right epoxy glue for aluminum to aluminum. This thing will definitely hold the cap in place and I don't need to depend on the allen screws which does nothing to hold it because the holes are positioned wrong when you put it on.

No need for epoxy glue.I had that cap on my car for 2 years without any issues.
Just make sure those allan screws are nice and tight.
What are you gonna do if the gasket on your present cap goes bad?

Too late, its glue and holds tight. I bought a spare oil cover so its brand new and I'm not going to worry about the seals for another 10 years! I still have my original chrome cap in case I need it anyways. Thanks but if I can just use the screws to hold it in, I would. The holes on my cap was screwing at the top edges and not middle so there was no grip at all.

    Hey guys,

I just tried my fuel Ferrari cap in the place of my oil cap and it fits. Screws on like the old oil cap. I also noticed that the original cap is pretty heavy duty on a Mondial T so I will leave it as is. Maybe I will change my mind.

    Hi Lino,
that sounds right that the gas cap and oil cap are same on the t, only diff is the gasket for the oil.
