    His money, his choice.... at no point has Mike@Stanceworks said it will be a real F40, just that it's a real F40 body, with a real Ferrari engine but everything else will be more modern and better than 40 year old tech... heck even Traveller made a better version of an F40 with Matilda...
    If given the choice to build an ultimate version of an iconic car i know i wouldn't build a replica that wasn't built on old tech but would use the latest technology to make my own iconic version of a great car, just better...
    Mike, love your content, right back from the "Rusty" days... keep at it young man and get a grinding...

    I appreciate both your wealth of knowledge on all things Ferrari especially F40 so to stop all the doubt on here I've shared with you ...
    All Chassis/Engine/Gearbox and build information along with pictures of my F40.

    Naturally for the rest, I dont want to spoil the build before I share the reveal on YouTube, so sorry but for now you will have to patiently wait. However I can assure you its a very real factory built 1990 Ferrari F40.

    Just found this thread.

    I can understand that some people value one thing only: the originality of the car and its historic Ferrari provenance. The fact that it encapsulates a moment, a situation, a context. An epoch. It’s a piece of history.

    I can also understand that there are design elements of the factory car that appeal to many (almost every one) in a timeless kind of way.

    I would also recognise the view that the original car, being a mid-eighties design, itself based on a 1970s design, is a little like the 1973 Carrera RS. In the sense that when I drove one for first time, many years ago, I was disappointed. The brakes were rubbish, it had lots of lift, no grip. Steering could have been better. It was slow.

    Things have moved on. A lot. Other than the Pininfarina lines.

    The composites are very early, roughly made, using reinforcements you’d never use today and super heavy. The car doesn’t need to weigh much more than 900kg. That’s far from all bodywork but the hand layup fibreglass+, without infusion or pre-preg, no unidirectional stuff for stiffness or carbon micro battening for weight is pre-historic.

    Wouldn’t it be good to improve the design, make it look the same/similar but be faster, lighter, stiffer, have functioning aero, a torque curve that works, some effective brakes, an element of torsional stiffness and a quality of welding and bodywork construction that wouldn’t embarrass a first timers’ high school project? Inboard dampers and springs that feed wheel loads into the chassis where it’s strong, at least 500kg of underbody aero, exploiting the splitter/flat floor/diffuser opportunity? Electronics and switchgear sourced from something better than the 80’s Fiat parts bin?

    That would be a car for driving rather than documenting a point in time when Ronald Reagan, Mikhail Gorbachev and Margaret Thatcher ruled their respective roosts, Axel Rose had a voice and Jeremy Clarkson hadn’t yet developed a dislike of flappy paddle transmission actuation.

    You could even get insured to drive it around, without worrying about the costs of putting miles on it or, heaven bid, putting in the wall.

    There are various reasons for admiring the F40’s truly iconic design, perhaps more than one of them have some validity.

    Once, (and that is if Scott decides to divulge them), then the actual VIN and relevant associated numbers will probably dictate where the thread sits on Fchat.

    Looking back, given that past ground up rebuilds on F40 chassis have not gone down well in the F40 section, then the projects section is probably where it will be most appreciated anyway.

    Having conversed with Scott in the past on numerous occasions, then the Fchat naysayers are well down on the pecking order for him anyway.

    You could even give it a torque/boost curve and some suspension geometry that made it less likely to spin itself off the road into a hedge if you put your foot down when the grip conditions are less than ideal.

    It was moved here by a Mod because they thought it wasn’t genuine. It is genuine so should be in the F40 section as I originally posted it.

    Scott is well known and regarded here as well as You Tube etc, he would have been daft to claim it was a genuine matching numbers package, given that once it is complete then a simple hpi type online check etc based on its registration number would reveal its VIN, even if he decided to conceal it on the car to stop nosy people trying to find out.

    It will be the real deal, but as I said unless he chooses to state what those numbers are then I guess the mods will remain skeptical.

    It is going to be an epic build, special projects is a good place to watch it develop from anyway.

    Aside from the picture of the genuine frame and engine I posted earlier?

    Scott has shown me innumerable pictures of the thing. It’s not even a question.
