Rattle solved. The dealer just had to add a couple of washers as shims to a heat shield and tighten it up and problem solved. Cheap and simple fix.

also had new Michelin tires installed (pilot sports). What a huge difference over the 12 year old Bridgestones. Much quieter, rides smoother and handles better. Best money I've spent on the girl.

Good news Mike! Thanks for the feedback.
Time for me to change my now old Bridgestones too (lots of tread left on the fronts). Don't know what make to go for, but you are another who is pushing me towards the PS2's. Got a track day tomorrow so I can probably finish off the rears.

12 years old?! Glad you got them swapped out....gotta be night and day difference. I am shocked with the difference even with 3 year old tires. Rubber gets pretty hard pretty quickly. Amazing how much more stick and comfort there is with fresh tires.
PS2s have great feedback...that or Bridgestones for me next go around. :)

Follow up question. I felt the heat shield repair should have been handled free of charge to me in that it occurred 7 months after the belt service. the belt service has a 1 year warranty. My rationale is that since these parts were removed and reinstalled it was their fault in not properly tightening the fasteners.
So IMO this would fall into the catagory of warranty work from the belt service.

Am I all wet on this one?

    thanks

My '90 348 made a racket on cold start up that would disappear in about 5 minutes. Turned out to be the alternator bearings. Rebuilt the alternator... no more noise. Might be worth checking if the 355 is similar.

Don't know. the dealer just fixed it. didn't show me which one, probably so I wouldn't fix it myself in the future.
