See video attached (forgive quality, had to compress to get it to upload). After driving down a bit of a rough gravelly road the other day in my FF, now have this really annoying noise coming from drivers side frontwheel. Before I try and take the wheel off and investigate (mad busy with work currently) has anyone else had this and can suggest *where* on the wheel I should be checking that this could be? Does not appear to be in caliper or around disc etc. Someone said INSIDE the brake disc itself through the holes round the edge but surely not as it sounds like its really bouncing around. Any suggestions where it could be?
It’s a stone from the gravel caught between the disc backing plate and the disk, it will fall out eventually, or you could try driving backwards to see if it falls out, it’s common on gravel or freshly tar chipped roads.
Thats what I thought but if you look under the ceramic you can see the bottom ring of the back plate around the edge underneath it so surely it would just fall out before it got stuck - and it sounds like its bouncing about rather than being "stuck" and scoring the disc, all of which suggested to me it could be elsewhere ? Silly one I know but Ive looked all around the wheel, behind it etc and cant see anything - unless there's part of the backing plate which isnt as open it could get stuck in?
