So my cars done 3000 miles and is three years old.

    458 spider.

Ive just bought it and according to my dealer it is a used car and its perfectly normal for the roof to sqweak and rattle at the joints , especially above the rear window, and despite it being a £200000 supercar i should understand that its a used car and the roof will rattle and squek loudly.

    Is this really normal?

My hard top porshe never squeaked or rattled once....

I've only owned coupes (Modenas, Stradales and a 458 Speciale), and none of them ever made the slightest rattle or squeak. I put about 18,000 miles on my Stradales over 10 years and not a single rattle or squeak. It will be interesting to hear from spider owners if it's common for roofs to squeak and rattle. I hope not.

I wonder if something like a bit of clear silicon gel strategically placed might eliminate the noises?

No rattles or squeaks in my 458 coupe with about 11,000 miles now. And none in my 2006 f430 spider.

Are you sure it's the roof? I thought the roof was rattling and squeaking at one point, and then realized it was actually the passenger seat being pushed too far back.

    I have a 2013 spider.
I can tell you that at times with roof up and with a sharp cornering move, I would at times hear a sound from what I assumed was the roof. I am guessing I had a little chassis/body flex and this slight torquing movement of the roof lead to the sound. Having said this, by lubricating the roof rubber - fairly frequently - I no longer experience this phenomenon. I have been using Griot's Vinyl and Rubber Dressing to do said lubricating. I cannot say other products are not as good, just that this has no silicone. My uber tech at FOA says that despite the "rubber" not being "rubber" it is manufactured from a hydrocarbon base so silicone could eventually cause some degradation. Not does but can. So, I have not used the fancy BMW "gummipflege" that was $9.95 a tube and now $80 (!) for fear of ruining the gaskets. I have used the BMW product over the years on other cars without issue. Just worried about an oops with the Ferrari.
Anyway, my ubertech says that the way the roof retracts, the rear gasket gets pinched on opening. So, I am guessing that unless you keep all the gaskets well lubricated that the roof cannot sit snugly or move freely when it unfortunately does shift ever so slightly. The best way to lubricate the rubber is to put roof in the most vertical position and you can access all the gaskets freely. Ignore the beeps. Nothing bad happens.
This may be one of the cures of the noises I have eliminated.
Lastly, the seat belt buckle can rattle against the race seat if it is too far back. I assume it could do same on any seat just that the carbon seat makes more noise as carbon is a harder surface than regular seat's seat back.
In regards to other noises, only after nearly 4 years have I on occasion with roof down gotten some stray noises coming from the dash (?) with the roof down. Irritating, but not always repeatable so I pretend it didn't happen. I hate squeaks and rattles!

There should be no squeeks or rattles with the roof - keep pushing the dealer to make it right - get a new service rep if you are not getting the issue resolved.

Convertible roofs rattle and squeak. I think Ferrari only warranties squeaks and rattles for 3 months after new car purchase, but I could be wrong. It all depends how much squeaking and rattling is "normal".

I thought mine squeaked but it turned out to be the seat belt on the passenger side. Something to check.

Have any one try the dry graphite lub for the rubber instead of the conventional oily lub?

Another place where the seat belt has a habit of hitting is the speaker grill behind the door.
I have been tempted to come up with a removable padding around the buckle while it is not in use to quit chipping the paint on the grill cover and keep the noise down.
