If you are keeping score at home - count me in. I too thought MM was a valuable member. He will be missed and f-chat is losing a great member. My own protest will be not to renew as a paying member.

LAFun unfairly banned MM. This on its own would not be a big deal - if it were an isolated incident. However, I believe that this time he had enough. He has been called every name in the book by people with 1/10th of his class. He has suffered false insinuations of being a racist, he has had a wife stalker, he has been threatened, etc. MM is a man of principle and he has had enough of the double standards and the cowtowing of the mods to Art.

Although he has never stated anything about this to me - or anyone else to my knowledge ... I think his being labelled on his profile as "troll of the year" was a joke gone too far. Sure there was a tongue and cheek poll and people remember MM for his charged Off Topic posts and graphics. However, MM was a far cry from a real troll. Anyone who really thinks MM was a real F-chat troll has not seen the likes of Gary Green, Allan Lambo, Joel Miller or our latest friend etomcat. But to collar him with the "Troll of the Year" moniker for a year is overboard.

I don't know if he complained about this or not - but I do know that some on this board would have cried or threaten legal action (read ART)

I had the pleasure of meeting MM and getting to know him as a friend through f-chat. He is the kinda person that would go out of his way to help most anyone. You can go many years without meeting a class act like Dave.

F-chat will miss advice from a man with more instructor time, race time and 550 seat time than all but a few on this community. Dave would often jump in Technical / General / Modern with timely advice. He has a great sense of humor and his ability to keep the loonie left at bay was priceless.

Dave was one of the prime reasons for my joining this community. I was thinking of buying a 550 and stumbled on this board and read many posts by Dave that motivated me to buy the car and participate in f-chat. Dave was a force on Off Topic and quite frankly he made the place fun. Fun for all but a few trolls and loonie lefties. A couple of whiners like Art couldn't take it and cried and complained.

Rob - you have displayed an absense of class with your "bye bye" and "last 100 post tally". Calling him a drama queen, etc. shows exposes a bit more of your fiber. You were right in not publically begging him back - but you certainly didn't need to take these cheap shots - especially since you knew he wouldn't respond.

You knew his banning had caused a storm - passionate threads were opened and closed over it. Dig you reach out to MM to ask about this? You had wind in advance that he was making a final post. Did you think to contact MM? No - you posted a warning to the mods that he would be posting.

The high road would have been to remain silent - and as you like to say "let your mods handle it." If you were going to step in and post or take action you should have looked deeper into why he was banned for 7 DAYS and Art was not banned at all.

Although you will say differently, I believe you have personally never really liked MM (except perhaps when he exposed JRV - which worked to your advantage) and this clouded your ability to look objectively at the MM vs Art epic battles.

You seem to tolerate sponsors who wish death upon the Pope and Catholicism, but can't wait to get in a parting schoolyard cheap shot at one of the Fchat legends.

Drama queen stuff I agree with, but this...

Super cheap. If you don't want the forum to be here, take it out. If you do, then why give a flying fart how often someone posts in it? When a user creates an account for the sole purpose of posting in Off-Topic, then we'll talk. Until then, who cares how people use your site?

MM: Sorry to see you go, I've enjoyed your posts since the "old" site was up. In fact, much of the reasoning behind my making an account here (other than my love of all things Ferrari) was to be able to see the pictures you would post (because after all, what's a MM post without pictures?). Good luck man.

So what? Is there a ratio that must be adhered to?

FYI - In the last month Art has posted 208 times with 149 in Off Topic. How's that for a ratio?

If MM was here he would chip in about now with a nice owned graphic.

Art, please shut the fock up for once? I have never paid much attention to the crap you guys flung at each other. I have better things to do. I do not dislike you, but you make it hard to like you. Dancing on Dave's departure is classless at best. You don't have to denigrate those of us who will miss him, nor did Rob. Perhaps he was a PITA, but he is a funny guy, honorable.
Dump politics, not OT. There is funny, distracting stuff in OT. Why else did you come to this thread when your sparring partner is gone?
    Please.

Yes, Mike is incorrect in calling the battles between M2 and Art "epic", since I am under the impression that battles only obtain "epic" status when the opposing sides were at least somewhat evenly matched. Ole Yeller couldn't hold a candle to M2 in this regard, and I think it frustrated him to no end. Backed into a corner, the playground bully would hurl epithets before showing his color and running home to mommy.

Really, the only thing epic about the battle between M2 and Art were the epic amounts of ownage M2 had over ol yellah.

BTW NICE STEALTH EDIT ON POST #34. KINDA REINFORCES SOMETHING M2 MENTIONED.

Not to re-stir this pot, but, the same guys who are *****ing now about Dave's treatment here would be dancing in the street if this was a thread about Art having had enough and walking away from Fchat.

You'd be posting OWNED pix, and rehashing every single bit of crap you could find, dancing on his proverbial grave. The same would apply for many other members here, if they decided to leave. So, let's not set a double standard, ok?

For the most part the discourse here has been relatively civil about Dave leaving, let's not ruin that.

ART - LEAVE IT ALONE. GLOATING IS NOT AN ATTRACTIVE TRAIT, AND YOU SHOULD BE ABOVE THAT.

As many of you know, Dave and I disagree about everything except cars, and that has always been enough of a bond to get past any other crap that might get in the way.

It's why I consider him a friend, with or without Fchat, which at the end of the day is all that matters.

    Dave M.

i don't want to get my pretty head dirtied with all this crap flying about, but just like to mention location of postage means pretty much zippideedoodah. i mostly post in O/T or the oz section, primarily because not owning a ferrari and not being a mechanic i have nothing particularly useful to contribute in the tech and F-model threads, which are the ones i primarily read.

    Mike550 and TexasMike…
My fiber? My fiber is creating a great online Ferrari community for EVERYONE. Not just a niche outspoken group. Our limited bannings and limited moderation is proof we have a very OPEN community while it remains contained. I never said Art or MM was right and I'm not on either side. It may appear differently to some as usually the majority doesn't need my help to keep things balanced. Personal information that I shouldn't need to say, but MM and I are very similar politically. My job here at FerrariChat.com is a tough one not to be anyone's friend and do what is good for the community and not any individuals, including myself.

Mike, are you really sure you want to insinuate that I am completely rotten and of poor "fiber"? I never said MM was bad, remember, he is the one leaving. He has been banned multiple times before that all started with warnings. The bannings naturally get longer the more you have, so please don't directly correlate a 7 day banning with just the things he was warned against and said recently. David has also wrote "good bye" essays before in the exact same manner as this time. When things died down and he needed a little attention, guess what, he came back!

I say "bye bye" to all users that are looking for attention through long "Dear John" letters. Why don't they just leave? Like I've said, there is not a single user on FerrariChat.com that I loose sleep over or would cry for if they left.

The "last 100 post tally" is simply factual information, interpret however you want. I'm sure there are hundreds of other users that enjoy Off Topic threads and that's the only reason they participate. Am I really complaining about it? No, it keeps the On Topic forums cleaner and maybe someone visiting more often to check things in Off Topic might wander over to an On Topic Thread. It is a necessary evil as we're humans. I fully support the Off Topic section. However, as a Ferrari community we place more value on Ferrari resources and participation, there are plenty of other communities for everything in Off Topic.
Umm, you weren't going to subscribe anyway. You have been a user for two months and you can judge I'm not "a class-act"? Do you even know me? Do you even know the history MM has on FerrariChat.com? Do you know anything at all? You are scum and pathetic to be making this type of uninformed post.

Talk to David in person this weekend. I know David isn't happy with how I run FerrariChat.com in relation to him individually, but ask him what he thinks of me as a person. Ask MarkPDX what he thinks of me as a person. Ask Al DeLauro what he thinks of me as a person.

How in the hell did my fiber and class get thrown into this? I have never done anything but what I thought was the best for the overall FerrariChat.com community. I'm sorry if this doesn't work in the favor of individual users in the community. I think comments like these show even more into the personality, "fiber", and "class" of those making them.

I never said I wanted MM to go, I just said I'm not going to cry if he chooses to go. My only involvement in this entire "drama" is…

    1) MM was banned for 7 days. I supported the ban as MM has been banned and warned multiple times before. The Moderator handled it properly by contacting the user and discussing everything offline.

    2) MM wrote a drama essay and I react as I always do… "bye bye".

I want to close that MM hasn't once contacted me over this issue in the past couple weeks. He didn't once ask me my view, offer suggestions, and offer feedback. Since over half of his essay was directed towards me, if you truly think MM cared about FerrariChat.com and thought things were broken that needed to be fixed, don't you think he would have contacted me offline? What were his reasons for publishing this in public? Attention? Attention with provocative OT posts, attention with his famous graphics, and attention with "leaving" FerrariChat.com once a year.

Why is this worth my time? If you are truly a good person that cares about FerrariChat.com, you will maturely discuss what you think is broken and work with us, not against us for how to fix it. When something is broken and your only contributions can be more damaging or personal ("fiber" and "class"), then you are a problem yourself and I will take you down for the benefit of EVERYONE that cares for the overall FerrariChat.com community.

Thanks to EVERYONE that appreciates I do the best I can with the limited resources I have. I am always available and willing to make improvements as this is YOUR community and not mine.

Unfortunately that is about the only thing that does get me worked up. Someone that doesn't even know me, new to FerrariChat.com, and doesn't know I know MM personally and consider him a friend is saying I'm class-less? What in the hell is wrong with people? Disagree with the mod's 7 day banning or disagree that I didn't go crying back to MM, but how dare anyone without basis make comprehensive personal statements like that.

Without an apology MM, MarkPDX, and all other users should be all over TexasMike for saying that. No one should get away with that.

    Thanks.

I actually see Rob losing control of this community and this community taking the control. I think with the way the board has grown and continues it will continue to make it hard for Rob to maintain control. Rob this is not a dig on you by any means. I just think that with the site growing as it is it will be harder and harder to control as time goes by.

I feel like I'm tuning in late, so I don't want to pick a side to this debate.

My take on the "Bye-bye" comment was that Rob had said all he wanted to say on the issue and didn't want to get into an argument, that's all. Personally, I wouldn't blow that comment out of proportion.

I do want to say thank you to Rob for all of the work you put into this site. If no-one else will say it I will: Thank you for the care and effort you put into what can sometimes feel like a thankless job.

Keep doing your best. That's all we can ask, and it's what you're already doing.

    Best!
