Hope RBR goes away and Newey works for Ferrari :D
Shame, but true. Worth asking him though, and maybe Ross brawn could come take the edges off the engineering side, organise it just a little bit more. He must have fished enough by now
Newey has already stated that he wouldn't work outside the UK in F1, and he has also stated that his greatest pleasure has been to be the one man who has beaten Ferrari more times than any other man. Don't get Me wrong, I'd love to see Newey at Ferrari but sadly, it's just not going to happen!
I know, I was joking, I think James Allison has the time on his side to develop into the new Adrian newey anyhow, it wil just take time
Now that I think about it, I suspect Newey is behind this whole "Ditch Renault/ threaten to leave F1" idea! It all makes sense! Newey convinced Mateschitz to ditch Renault early, convincing him that they had to have Mercedes engines for 2016 but knowing Mercedes would never go for it. He then convinced Mateschitz that unless they got Mercedes engines, they should leave F1, knowing that was the most likely outcome. Now Mercedes have said no to supplying them engines, Mateschitz will pull Red Bull out of F1, finally leaving Newey free to design his racing yachts! - The man is a genius!
Interesting piece here on the Red Bull engine situation. The story behind Red Bull's 2016 engine - Formula 1 - Motor Sport Magazine
News this morning (among these a very short interview of Mario Illien) has it that the most difficult part to solve will be the one of "intellectual property" of some components of the Renault engine, and that the lawyers will be working on that; for the time being, the deal is still far from being done. Rgds
Renault-sport was willing to do it; Renault (as a corporate entity) was dead against it. I suppose this is a "gesture of goodwill", or a result of Bernie's pressing them to do "something" to avoid losing Red Bull. BTW, Renault is holding an "extraordinary board meeting" today; some say that the official press release for the Lotus deal might be in the "miscellaneous" topics, so would be announced very soon. F1 has incredibly strict rules on the use of other manufacturers designs and I/P, even if it is voluntarily offered, and this deal would raise all sorts of issues concerning the other teams about what is allowed and what is not. For example, if Red Bull were to be allowed to copy and use Renault engine designs and I/P, why shouldn't HAAS be allowed to copy and use Ferrari's aero designs and I/P?, or their braking system design and I/P? The precedent on sharing designs and I/P has already been set with Red Bull and Toro Rosso being told that they could not share designs, and that they would have to design their cars independently of each other despite having the same owner, so why should these rules suddenly be changed now? Why should Red Bull be given an exemption from the rules when no other team has been given one in the past?
Basically it's either that or they leave the sport taking 2 teams with them and a huge loss to Bernie's annual coffers Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It would seem strange though that it is perfectly within the rules to provide another team with an engine/power unit, but against the rules to provide them with part of an engine/power unit.
As everyone knows, I'm no big fan of the Cans (big or baby version), but neither do I really get this 'hatred' towards them - "they won't be missed" etc. You may not like them, but there's no debate they've been damn successful over the past few years. Personally, I thinks it's a shame when we lose *any* team, be they a tail ender or a WCC winner. Surely that can never be good for the sport? Cheers, Ian
Oops!.... Sorry guys, I thought I was in the "RB uncertain" thread..... Hopefully the mods will move it soon. Cheers, Ian
+1 which is what drives me to post about them as I do. Sure they have not done well in managing the issues with Renault. I wasnt so great with my ex LOL The sport is much better with them on the grid! Thats what matters in the overall scheme
Agreed, the Renault mess could have been handled better, but it is what it is. +1 I really don't understand the 'they won't be missed' mentality. It's a sad day for F1 when *any* team leaves IMO. Don't care if they're WCC winners or tail end Charlie's, they're no longer on the grid. As long as they're within 107 the more the merrier IMO. Cheers, Ian
If Mateschitz leaves F1 at the end of this year, I don't think RB and TR would qualify to receive their share of the money accumulated this season. So it would be all profit for Bernie.
Bad news for honda now they are going to behind a soda can engine. How long with this pr nightmare go on for honda next Sept honda will pull out
