I was wondering what thoughts people had on both of these tires. I was looking to replace my 328's, and was trying to decide which is the better tire. Thanks!

PS2 is generally acknowledged (at least around here) to be better manufactured (more round) and a better all-around high performance tire for street use. The wear appears to be slightly better and the NVH is less but the lat grip a little more in the RE-01R. Per Schroeder and the guys at Grassroots Motorsports says the RE-01R is relatively sensitive to pressures. Both are very good tires and a great upgrade for the 328.

What do people think of the Falken Azenis RT615??? I love them on my roadster. I was considering the RE-01R's when I bought them.

Put the Goodyear GS-D3 in your list for consideration as well. When my tires are worn out, I will most probably buy the GS. It is about 80% of the cost of the Michelin and very similar in performance.

I've got the GS-D3 on my car now and had a pleasant 14K miles in three years. They're great in the wet and were very good for the money. They were on special at Tire Rack when I bought them, same sizing as the 328 OEM sizes. As they approach the end of their useful life :D, they are getting noisy and harsh.

Thanks for the link! www.edgeracing.com sells the RT615 and basically claims they are about 90% of the RE-01R performance for about half the cost typically. I really like them, although the other tires I have run on the same car are really bad (Kumho Ecsta All season). I have some of the RE-01R at a shop in Michigan for a car that I cancelled the order on in the summer.

from a performance perspective, the AD07 is a way better tire. AD08 will be out shortly. I've tested that tire as well and it is about 1 second a lap faster than the AD07 at Buttonwillow (a ~2min track)

Extra innings: According to an announcement on NASIOC (the WRX/STi forum), Bridgestone RE11s have just hit the US, with a new US compound that's being claimed to be even better than the JDM RE11s.

Tirerack's site lists the RE11s under Bridgestone tires, but they have no specs, sizes, or prices up yet.

The RE11s are supposed to be a large step up from the RE01Rs.

The Audi folks just love the REO1R's, but I couldn't find a set so I went with the "lesser" RE050A. Have them on the 355 too, but I have only tracked them in the Audi. They are a really solid street and track tire, and didn't give up too much even in my 3900 pound car. Tread ware has been good too. I have a feeling that it is essentially the same compound, but I have nothing to substantiate that (except a sinking feeling).

The reputation of the PS2 is that it is the benchmark for high performance street tires.

I doubt at my level I could tell the difference.

I might just wait then until the RE11s are available and use them. I hear its a March release.
