Hi Guys, I'm in the process of sorting out my indicators. The hazard switch is the last piece of the puzzle, I've disassemble it and cleaned it up, but when it came apart the bits inside sprung loose. So i have the top part (toggle), bottom part (housing), 4 springs, two white plastic bits with copper connected on the ends and a black oblong plastic part. Now I assume the white bits are face (copper) down with the springs connected to the top part of the switch? The black bit flat with the longer part facing to the rear of the switch sits between the toggle and top of the white blades? as i move the toggle this will move the black plastic part and in turn the white blades. Does this make sense? and tips would be gratefully received.
I did the same thing just this week. My Hazard Switch was shorting out so I took it apart just like you did. Just so you know, after about 3 hours of trying to put it back together, I just gave up and got a NEW switch from T Ruttlands. Dam thing cost $105 but thats ok. After 3 hours of trying to re-build a 25 year old switch I just said to hell with it and ordered the new one. Since I have the nagging turn signal issue on my 308 QV, I took a break from the major on my Boxer and had a look at the 308's hazzard switch. When you disassemble these things with springs, contacts, bits & pieces, the best way to document how they fit together is have a digital camera handy. Here's mine during disassembly. Note the loose rivet in the secondary chrome top plate which may be what was causing the poor connection internally within the switch along with dirty contacts.
