I have working this winter on a re-dye and new carpet project for the 1986 328 GTS. I just completed the project in time for the first spring drive. Provided below are some before and after pictures.

Thank you to the numerous members that answered questions throughout the project.

The dye used was from Leatherique, the carpet is from GAHH, and the pedals are from Hill-Engineering.

Some pictures did not go through the first time. Sorry.

Are the arm rests on the door panels originally tan on 86's? Mine are black on the 87.

Looks very nice BTW! Mine was done using Leatherique, and an air brush.

Did you do any headliner work ?

What was the dye color from leatherique you used ?

Did you spray, brush, or sponge ?

Thanks for all the nice comments. I really appreciate it.

FasterisBetter - No thanks. Once is enough for a while. You should give it a try, it really wasn't that difficult.

Roryferrari - In looking at 328's both here and on the internet, I have seen various colors for the doors and armrests. I am not sure what all the different color combinations were. I am confident that this is the original colors on mine.

Perry308QV - all the fabric, the headliner and behind the seats have not been updated. This will be next years project. The replacement fabric is very expensive and I think I will pay someone to do the headliner.

The dye color was Saddle 3218 and it was sprayed on with an airbrush.

    Thanks again

    Nice Job!
I need to do this on my '88. Did the GAHH carpet kit come with the door panel pieces?

Dave - yes. It came with everything. The carpet was not as plush as the original, but it looks like good quality. I also sent them the original 'heel pads' from the old carpeting and they installed them on the new carpet. Good luck.

I recently put these same Hill pedals in my 328, they look so much better than the originals and feel great to use, you don't realize how much your feet slide on the pedals until you use these. I highly recommend them.

    Rory,

There was a changeover sometime during the '87 model year. I had a later '87 before and it had the newer door release assembly with the black armrest. Now I have an early '87 and it's similar to the '86 models.

    Hi Scott1967,

    Looks very nice.

Could you tell me who is GAHH and just a ballpark cost for the carpet kit?

Does it come ready to install?

    Thanks,

    Drew Altemara

    Drew -

GAHH produces after market carpet kits. Provided below is a link to the website.

    http://www.gahh.com/product_info.php?cPath=27_38_3407_125_955&products_id=1250

The kit is $750 for the 328. I also sent in my heel pads and they sewed them on the new carpet.

It's actually fairly easy to install. It comes in all the separate pieces, including the door samples.

I just use a 3M adhesive from a spray can to get the carpet to stick.

    Scott
