Guys, I keep getting the famous Control Engine light on after several days after reset. Im planning to buy an OBD II for myself. Any recommendation? Anyone that really stands out ? I ve been told by my dealer that I need to change the gas cap, which I will do. Any other reason for it to your knowledge? Thanks guys!
Get code reader and post the fault code. If its an evap leak code (0422 i think) it could be the gas cap but I wouldn't go buy a $400 gas cap just to see. They make aftermarket caps u can buy at autozone for $15 that will fit id u r looking for a cheap test. Better off getting it properly diagnosed. A common problem which will give u same code is the notorious fuel pump seals atop the gas tank. Not the end of the world but i am rooting for bad gas cap👍
Great , thanks! I ll do that. As soon as the tool arrives , I ll post the error code. Thanks greybeast!
Get the OBD Reader ... Replace the defective part investigating the code given by the OBD ... ( no more ligths engine alarm back on dash) Reset it is not a SOLUTION It is an 100-160$ usd the cost of the OBD reader but you can get one with oil service reset capability for 200-300$ - investigate EBAY You wil economise when buyng the part itself (Buying a cheaper part for replacement). Go step by step an OBD reader its incontornable for getting to the origin of the malfunction repair repalcement of part Jorge
