    I am speaking of the metal strip. If the black fades what have you done to make it black again?

    I have used flat black paint applied with a small brush to repair small pits.

    They do make black trim (anodize) paint in spray cans. Problem is that it may not match 100% and you may have to respray your entire trim piece.

    black sharpie and blue scotchbrite. takes several applications. not good for large areas.
