I think its an interesting idea and he'll probably get a fair amount of money from it because people are fairly charitable. I don't think anyone will place a 29 million-dollar bid however.

Is he actually asking for money ? I thought he wants to be given a chance to prove himself. i think with the non-college education he is finding it hard to get a job to put his ideas to work. I dont think he wants money. He sounds too independent to want money, i think he is too proud of himself to take a free ride, he will work for it. People need to look past the fact that he has no college education and give him a chance. Some of the riches men in this world have no formal education.

I'm surprised that E-Bay would post such crap!

If my parents were able to make something of themselves as Italian immigrants, at 40 years old, with three kids in tow, my mom 5 months pregnant, not knowing anyone in Canada, my mother speaking a little French and English and my father speaking neither...well you get the picture.

All I'm saying is that millions of people across North America managed to make it, with far more odds stacked against them.

    29M$...indeed!!!!!

What's the matter with this picture.........? This guy is a joke !!

History shows that you don't get successfull overnight.........it can take decades of hard work, which is usually the norm, the internet stock bust excepted. He's not thru this second one yet and he's whining already !!

He is starting the bidding way too high.

To my knowledge, the going price for a healthy, young and stupid white kid who likes to whine and complain is about $100. I might pay that, but he would have to cover the shipping costs to get to me. I also dont want the girlfriend.

Would buying this kid violate some sort of anti-slavery laws?

iam 39, and i ve worked my ass off for others for years, now i own my own business, have everything i need and a great family, but as i said, i worked for it and everything. but reading that does make me feel bad for the guy. maybe he s blowing smoke maybe he s not, but i think im going to send something, if he is sincere, well then i helped the guy out, if he s not, oh well, it wouldnt be the first time someone got over on me. i know in my heart i would be helping a needy person out. i think alot of us here should consider helping the guy, even if its just a buck, hell i think we all pretty much own exotic cars here and what we spend in gas just to cruise around is crazy, not to mention the price we ve spent on our cars for purchase, a little donation wont break any of us, its a chance you take when you read this kind of stuff, at least it should make you feel good inside. just my opinion.

This guy has worked for 2 years, he is 19. One idea got shot down so now he is looking for a handout be it money or a job. Piss off, go and get an education, in school or life. Lots of people do better with less everyday than this guy.

Honestly man, this guy has jobs. There are people in this world a lot more needy of your support than this guy. It is nice that you are sympathetic to him, but come on, there are people who don't eat everday, and not for lack of trying. This guy just isn't happy with his life, even though he has all he needs.

No, you'd be employing him... There'd be compensation for him involved, therefore ruling out slavery... Besides, he's publicly announcing he'll do pretty much anything, so i'm sure he'd sign a contract to that effect...

What killed me wasn't the long, drawn out plea for help... It was the email address at the end... AOL is like $20+ a month...!

Buying doesnt mean employing . Hypotheticaly , buying someone means u buy his freedom from either his parents or from his own ( give him $$ ). Afterwards , he is yours and he "should " do everything you ask him to . No salary . Plus im sure signing such a contract even with his approval would be illegal . It would be against human rights .

Since i'm not an attorney and really don't know what i'm talking about, AT ALL, i won't even begin to try to present a reaonable-sounding argument... :)

However, i think something like that would be really vague and if i sign a contract that says that, for X amount of dollars, i submit myself to the will of the bearer of those dollars, that might be legally binding and NOT be slavery because i willingly signed it and am accepting payment in return... i'd love to hear from some of our more formidable attorneys (ie, Bill Hart) on something like this...

The kid should've set the starting bid at $0. He might've been surprised how much people would've helped. Set up a dutch auction at $10 a bid. Send them each a thank you letter for the $10.

Hey you guys, stop and think about where this guy is located. He's in
ARKANSAS, just about 30 miles up the interstate from where I am. Nobody is more qualified than me to tell you about folks here in Arkansas. You may have black drug dealing gangs in the cities, but you have even more redneck white guys cooking up crystal meth in their singlewide mobile home surrounded by hound dogs sleeping in the yard among the cars sitting in the weeds. Don't get down too hard on a poor Arkansas boy trying to figure out a humerous way to make a buck. He's just throwing out a humerous offer in the mild hope that somebody will toss him a financial bone. I know a guy who lives in Cabot and even he doesn't like the people around there. He says that many people are living paycheck to paycheck so that they can come across as "redneck chique" by living in a big house, driving a new car, and keeping their noses in the air toward Farmer Brown down the road. Of course Farmer Brown probably has a wad of hundreds in his pocket and plenty more in the bank, but to the rednecks, it's all about appearance.
More power to Cabot E-Bay Boy. Maybe he can earn enough money to pay for a gallon of gas and move down here to Little Rock.

That's exactly why i no longer have an ebay account... i put something up for auction, one bidder bid and won and after the auction, decided not pay... i refused to pay ebay and tried to file a complaint that i was duped by a fraudulent bidder and ebay fücked me with their red tape...

When I started school in 2001, I had no car. I seriously walked or rode my bike to school - which was 18 miles away. Granted, I only did this for about a month and a half until my GI Bill started up and I could buy my POS Fiat, but hey, I F*GGIN' WALKED 18 DAMN MILES TO SCHOOL FOUR DAYS A WEEK.

Let him walk - or join the military so he can have the benefit of $1000 a month from the GI Bill.

John i'm with you on this one. If this kid sat at home and lived off the government we would all call me a lazy bum, but as he states he chooses not to do that and he is well aware that its an option.

When my parents arrived in Australia from Italy, they worked with their hands very hard to get where they are today, with not even knowing any english. So what is the difference today ? With all the technology that we have today and how far advanced the world has moved since the days my parents arrived in Australia.... we use computers and ideas to try and get ahead...... So the kid spent $10 to put and ad on Ebay to try and get his life ahead.... well so what..... well done, atleast he is thinking. How many people in this world are too lazy to just think !!!!!

And some of you guys should understand that you may be lucky enough to be born in a family where they can send you to college etc and perhaps this kids family can't afford at this time.

the problem in this world is our priorities. About 13 years ago some computer geek asked the question "What will happen to the world's computer systems when we click over from 1999 to 2000?" and so the Y2K bugg was formed and how much money did the world's business spend on trying to protect thier systems/business........ BILLIONS !! and what happened ? NOTHING !!!! but if you ask the world to help someone out, they say get a job or work hard because thats what i did.

Yes there are people worst off than him, so everyone on this post who is bagging this guy then why don't you go to worldvision.com and on that site you will find millions of kids that are worst off than him, so put your money where your mouth is.

He has put 29,000,000,000 to get your attention and it has worked. He is not asking for money, he is asking for a chance. He wants to work hard. His family situation does not enable him to apply for certain jobs or apply for certain schools because he has no car, money etc.

People on this post may not have ever experienced what he has, but yet we make comments like work hard, as if we have all been through what he has. Leave the kid alone and take 2 minute out of your little Ferrari chat time and atleast give him an email of encouragement and is that so hard, and it will cost you nothing.

There are government programs that are designed specifically to help out in this case. Almost anyone can qualify for a student loan for technical school or college. Believe me, I know. I was raised in a trailerhome myself, and had to pay my own way through school because my family was dirt poor. I have no sympathy for this kind of whinging.

OT here, but the Y2K bug was real, and nothing happened because of all the work done to correct it. I'm not certain how your statement relates to this thread anyway.

He could join the military. He could move somewhere else. He can't be that badly off, if he's paying for luxuries like internet access. Sorry that his situation sucks, but he's got to step up. He *****es about not being able to go to school because he can't afford a car -- there's $300 beaters in every paper in the country.

And how do you know people on here haven't been where he is? True, there's some trust fund guys on here, but there's also those who have started with nothing and done well.

Sorry, but I just don't buy the sob story. He chose to have a fiance at 17, he chose to move to Arkansas (and yes, that was a choice!), he claims to be working 15 hours a day at "Walmart and my website", which really means he's getting paid at most for 6 hours/day. (and note, again, webhosting and internet access). Step up, move out, get a student loan or join the Army or become a truck driver or something.
