Serious Cash buyer in the market for a 360 Spyder. Ideally I am looking for a Red with Tan interior Manual 6 Spd Car. I will actually drive the car so while i know ones with <20,000 miles are desirable i will likely put ~6-8k miles a year on it so perhaps i should open the window there. I have read the Sticky's here but have some basic questions and am hoping i can find a nice one in a reasonable timeframe. I am also open to a black interior but would really prefer tan. I am not flexible on the Red exterior though

    - Mileage - Considering i will drive the car 6-8l per year and likely keep the car for about 4-5 years what range of mileage do you think i should look for

    - I Prefer the stick vs F1 because i have been told it is better from a reliability and maintenance / cost to own standpoint. Is this true or just opinion. I dont mind the F1 if everything else is comparable

    - I know the whole newest with the lowest miles philosophy but if i find the exact car i want and it is an earlier model (1999 to 2001) is that a real drawback or have the kinks generally been worked out

    - I live in the Orange County CA / L.A. area - should i stay local or are the TX and FL ebay dealers worth looking at

    - Obviously there is no hard number but what should i budget for annual maintenance driivng it as stated above

I am very excited to find my dream car. Honestly even if money were no object i believe the Red 360 Spyder to be the most beautiful modern Ferarri made. Please help me out with my search and if any of you have a car for sale or have a lead on one with a solid history i am all ears. Prices seem all over the place. Main thing for me is a car i can truly drive and enjoy.

Look for awhile. You may find one cheap -- if you don't mind an unknown background. I would stay away from those. I spent about 3 months or so searching for the right 360. Like you, I wanted a 3 pedal as the early F1s are EXPENSIVE to maintain, and I can shift faster than a 360 F1. As to early models, I'd recommend later models. For example, mid 2002(ish), Ferrari changed the headlamps a bit, extending the internal cowling to better align the beam and keep the lamp from discoloring the internal paint. There are many lessons learned along the way and Ferrari is good about incorporating them during the model run. In general, later is better with Ferrari.

Keep an eye on SF Sports Cars (San Francisco Sports Cars: We Buy and Sell Exotic Sports Cars) which is where I got mine at a better deal than I got locally -- although I'm in Denver.

    Happy hunting!!
    Rick

PS, I just looked at SF Sports Cars.. they have 2 360s. An 01 and an 04. The 04 is a 3 pedal. Ask for Phil. Great guy and loves exotics.

I know that this isn't your preferred color but is nicely equipped with electric Daytona seats with contrasting stitching, Challenge grille, red calipers at 18k miles. Recent major service by Ferrari.

The pics do not do this car justice. I have seen it. It is beautiful in person.

Yes i working with the owner now on a potential sale. I am debating a 60k mile car for 70k vs 15-30k miles cars for 80-82k. Also it would be great if i could get one here locally in the SoCal area but texas is not a bad flight

What are the forums thoughts on a 70k dollar 60k mile car that is really well maintained vs a much lower mile car for an extra 10-12 k in cash

I don't mind the mileage but 60 is getting up there a bit. If the records are good though, I wouldn't worry.

Be prepared for a ton of attention. Maybe not in CA but around here my yellow coupe gets tons of attention. I sit low enough so I don't have to respond. You won't have that option. For me a coupe was by far the best way to go.

Super tough call IMO. If you are going to keep it for a good long while I like the idea of making an "offer" on it but to me the trouble is if you don't keep it for a long time; say you find out that it's not really your cup of tea or a couple of expensive repairs sour your appreciation for the car. Then what? You'll be adding another owner to the books, the next potential buyer is going to wonder why you are getting out of it so fast. Don't forget you have a 2-6K service due next year where you wont have the car to enjoy for 1-3 weeks.

I guess I like it a lot for the right type of buyer, could be you...maybe not. It would be nice to have an extra 10-15K in your pocket if the car is as nice as it presents itself, when compared to a lesser mileage example. How are you going to be sure that it is? That's the exercise before you.

Way too high! I sold my 04 spider with 18,000 for 82,000 6 speed That was a good deal . 60,000 miles is a huge hit on price Its kool it still looks and runs good but there still is just an intrinsic value and it AINT in the high 70's sorry
