Shocking, isn't it? I mean, the outside and interior look pretty good, but then you open up the bonnet and...OMG, what the heck is that? I guess to the one who did it, "THIS CONVERSION MAKES SENSE!"

Man, that's the legendary GM L44 2.8 L High Output Multi-Port 60-Degree V6 engine in there! Of course it makes sense!

I guess the owner could say it's a single distributor carb'd car.

I wonder how freaking slow this car is? People talk about minivans outrunning their 308's at stop lights. I bet a Chrysler K car could take this off the line.

Wow. At least put the original wheels back on, those are hideous. How do you explain this car at car shows?

Easy. Just do what Junior Johnson did. Tell the judges it's a Ferrari "Motore Mistero."

The previous owner was here on Fchat. Be aware that the rear suspension on that thing is actually Fiero with some custom welded strut mounts.

Previous owner, threads/posts are interesting: http://ferrarichat.com/forum/member.php?u=35151

If it were cheap enough, it might make an interesting basis for a LS2/6 speed transplant

It may not be. I was at a local cafe last year with mine and a local guy was telling me he knows where one is (somewhere around here) that had a Fiero Engine installed. I figured he was bsing and dismissed it. He was telling me the engine and trans just dropped in without much modificaiton. Again....figured he was bsing. I must say...if its around here, its not being driven or I would have scene it. And I don't really care to either!

The first clue that "strange things are afoot" is that in the side photo, you can see daylight through the rear wheel well. What happened to the inner wheel well liners? Then you realize there are no liners because the entire structure has been massaged.

There's at least 2 out there, this one and a yellow one. I don't recall the VINs, but the yellow one was definitely a different car.

He may have an AUDI engine in his 348...that would be an upgrade for him, right? :D:D:D:D

This reeks of a substantial rear end knock at some point.

So the next inevitable question is.... what is under the engine bonnet of the 348??? An Ecotech Solstice motor?

The problem with the Fiero suspension is that the transmission and differential are located on the left side of the car, all of it. This makes the driver's side axle about 12" long and the passenger side axle 3.5" long. The resulting handling of a set up like this is in question.
(IIRC, the Lamborghini Urraco is laid out the same way) See attached pictures.

A common transplant to a Fiero. The kit for installing a Chev 350 is cheap and easy to do.
A 400 HP Corvette engine would really make a 308 a lot of fun to drive if it wasn't for the off-balance location of the engine, (to the RH side of the car) and the goofy suspension.
