I have a 1996 355 spider with 22,000 miles, red/tan in perfect condition and will be doing the 30M service. I am thinking of upgrading to a 360 spider soon. I asked a F dealer what my car is worth. He said 70 on a trade and retail 75. I assume his retail might be a little low, but not much. It looks like retail should be close to 80. I think these are realistic numbers. I have noticed that some folks on the board think the 355 spiders are worth lot more. I wonder if they are buyers, sellers or owners that want their car to be worth more. What does everybody think? I am not yet ready to sell, but may do so soon. Also a few months ago somebody on this board told me to let him know when I was thinking of selling. I left that info in Sun Valley, Idaho and now I am in Maui until end of April. If you are out there, send me an email at [email protected].

Watch out for the Curb Hoppers and Bottom Feeders on this board. I think that if the car is pristine you might find the right buyer in the high 70's. But again watch out for the E-bay Bottom Feeders.

to Senna1994- I agree with you. Car should retail at 80 or very close given enough time.

I sold my car to a fellow chatter at a fair price to both of us. The reason was I took excellent care of my car, what bothers me is these so called experts on line blowing smoke about MY 99 355's selling below 80k. Yeah maybe if it has a Salvaged Title or god knows what else is wrong with it.

The dealers will always tell you retail of the car below the market value.
They are in the bussiness to buy as cheap as posible for the highest gain
of profit. If you want to get the best money for your car, you nedd to sell it
    to private party.

OK, I think fair market for my car is min 80 max 85. I may do this real soon. If it is below market, there should be offers coming in. I'll let you know. No real serious inquires yet.

Gotta toss my 2-cents in on this one...having just spent 2 months+ looking at many 355 spiders...I'd like to think I've pretty much got my finger on the pulse of the market.

First-off: I'm in California, so you have to account for Califonomics!

I bought my Red/tan '97 355 spider with the 30k done, exhaust manifolds both replaced (factory authorization to dealer!), 3,000 miles from the original owner. No add-ons. Excellent condition. I paid in the mid/low $90's and believe I got a VERY good deal: as I was buying it, the phones were ringing and several other offers were being tendered...it was a hot commodity no doubt. The day I picked it up, people were coming to check out what they hoped was still for sale.

Additionally, I saw several '97 355 spiders (black) with 14k-20k miles that could be had for $88,000

Knock off for a year older, deduct a bit for mileage, add for red/tan...eh: $85,000 as top-end most likely. In your neck of the woods, to move it fast...I'm guessing you'd likely move it for $76,000 to $81,000.

    Hope that helps...

Might wanna hang onto it...check out this thinking: after seeing the HUGE drop in 360 coupe prices, it's easy to anticipate what the eventual 430 spider will inevitably do to 360 spider prices: who's gonna wanna buy something about to plunge? I mean...come on: 360 coupe prices WERE in the $150k - $180k not too long ago....now they are down in a big way. Why: cause the 430 is coming. Why are 360 spider prices still up?...cause the 430 spider is nowhere in the distant future, BUT when the 430 spider comes: so shall fall the 360 spider prices as well.

My advice to those thinking about a Ferrari spider and those not wanting to take a big hit in the couple years to come on a 360: buy a 355 spider, it's raw, fun and likely to retain some good value as the "feasible/reasonable" Ferrari convertible. Look what a 328 or 348 cost...they are stable: how much lower can a 355 go???

Course, I'm not sure if you are looking to buy a 360 coupe or spider though. Like I suggest, the 360 spider is about 1.25 to 2 years from a huge drop. The coupe has taken a huge hit, but I suspect it's not at the bottom yet: when thousands of eberwealthy decide to move on the new toy, we'll see another $18k - $35k of droppage.

I may be wrong...but hey: my buddy's friend knew some gal who dated a guy who supposedly slept with Carmen Electra...so there ya go! ;)

    Steve,
Thanks for your info. I agree with you. I am looking to upgrade to a 360 spider until I can get a 430 spider. I have been on the "list" for three years and dealer states I am now three years out. I guess I'm tired of waiting. I would like to sell at market and buy at market, that way if my 430 spider ever comes in, I will not lose too much on the 360 spider. You are right, the 355 is hell of a car and I believe that at least twice the price, the 360 spider is not twice the car, just better.
