Hi guys, I have been lurking here on the forums for a while since I sold my f355. Back in 2012-13 these cars normally sold in the 40-50k range max if they had some decent miles (35000+), previous paint work etc. My question to all of you, obviously many members like pristine vehicles with the super low mileage, no paint work etc, but what do the driver quality vehicles go for? Thank you for your assistance. And if anyone knows of a a f355 for sale in the ny/nj area, I would be interested in a higher miles example, I like the spider or gts model better than the hard top models just my preference for some open air motoring.
In my honest opinion, a car like you're talking about seems to sell in the low 50s, depending on whether major was done semi-recently. The cars in the mid 40s seem to be ones that need more work to make them immedieately drivable but that being said there are a couple on the west coast(spiders) that are in that price point and are fairly decent cars. A GTS on the other hand will not be had for near the low 50 range tho.
Thanks for your response, thats what I was looking for .. will start the search again. Stuff like sticky dash boards are ok and I can drive the car, as long as the motor/gearbox is tight and not missing like a pig lol
There is one on the West Coast I was seriously looking hard at that could be had for $46k thereabouts, good owner on FChat, car needs sticky and a little dash leather addressed and major was done by a non ferrari shop but does have tubi exhaust and a working top(rosso corsa/black). If you want i'll get you his info
There's a member here who was trying to sell a salvage title black GTS in NJ with two VINs. That might be a start. There's also a red GTS on eBay with a branded title from a fire which might fit the bill. The auction mentions that his reserve is less than the 69k or something he paid for the car a few years ago.
I think the spider is more feasible in the price range, it seems that gts is on the up and up lately lol. Thanks for the tips.
How on earth someone could sell their 355 for sub 100k is beyond me. IMO, you would need to spend 150K + to even think about duplicating the feel and excitement of the 355.
I bought my GTB with 67k miles earlier this year for low low 40's USD. I would say I lucked out though with a diligent previous owner who had a massive stack of receipts and kept up on maintenance. I would need at least $85k CAD for me to part with it at this point. It's too damn fun and IMO more exciting than the new Ferrari's.
Sounds like you are looking for a F355 just like mine. Mine is not for sale but for an example I will throw the basics out there for the Fchat guys to argue over. What do you think it is worth? 1997 F355 GTS - Gated Manual 44,500 miles Black/Black -Due for Major, 5 to the month since the last -Paint is good. No paint work. Typical road rash on underside edges. Could use a resparay of both bumpers to be excellent. -Interior is undergoing sticky repair. Half done. Leather is good. Slight banana on the airbag. Bolster wear on driver seat. Original floor mats have a good amount of wear. -Valve guides and headers replaced under factory warranty in 2000. -Now it has Fabspeed Headers, test pipes, Capristo Exhaust, SRI full gold kit -All records since new -Books, tools, cover -two black key fobs, one is a clone -Runs and drives great. O2 sensors give off CEL because it has no cats. The Thermocouple ECU's are finicky which is common when they get old and throw codes every once in a while. Not a single car in the world I want more. What is it worth Fchat
$60-$70K in Colorado, recent major and gated 6 speed would get more, how much more is hard to tell. Agree that ir would take a alot more than what the current selling price is to part with it. I just spent thr morning in Maranello with a 458 in the mountains and that would work for me.
It seems if we are not going by the southern california prices then we are wrong? But 45-50 for a car with many of the so called major issues sorted? Bull **** flag is waving. That should put it in the 50s at least. Besides any car I Have Isn't going to be smog legal in california. Not until the buyer spends some money on cats. I'm not worried about ever selling to someone in california anyway, They would always be able to find a silimar or identical local car and save on shipping costs as well. Why shoukd i discount my car just to dell in california. When your market is flooded with the same car in a small area your damn skippi values will be lower. Until its the car to have above all others and the people come out of the wood work to buy them. Its ok i don't see all the aircooled porsches bringing the same money at the same time as sn identical car Either. Values are not black and white. I think people should post what they think a straight sorted car with what transmission and what configuration is worth. Then figure a dollar amount deduction to fix any known issues and come to a ball park value at the given time. It can be adjusted as time goes on. Look.at the ckuntach value thread just the first page. Its cool to see how it progresses from the begining.
It's so inexpensive to ship a car I didn't see any regional differences in value when I was searching. California just has more to choose from. Specific to the example above I'm curious about Hawaii vs. the mainland.
So so many more for sale locally here that just wont do an internet listing All my cars were word of mouth purchased and never offered publicly. I really doubt I would ever list one for sale online so not to deal with tire kickers. I know this is a unique market and I respect it. There are cars offered months in advance. My last car I agreed to buy several months before I bought it while the seller was waiting for his new car to come available. Sitting on a few right now that will need homes
Most of the time shipping isnt a big deal yet everytime i have shipped a vehicle from any long distance the price keeps climbing. Some people with a plethora of available cars close by in the same state especially cali, it makes it easier for them to do that.
I'm going to list my car tomorrow for $55k firm clean carfax. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Well that was about what I was expecting! Some high, some low, but most in the middle. There are so many factors in 20 year old exotics that I wouldn't be able to go into it with a newbie. The point is that the car that the OP is looking for could be worth anywhere from $45-85k according to Fchat. Crazy huh? Impossible to definitively state a F355 with xyz is worth $xx,xxx. Just to throw some other info out there - the cost to ship a car from Hawaii to the mainland is $1100. I just did it. I just moved to Hawaii from Seattle. Also, my car was originally a California car so it could be brought back there from what I understand. Nothing beats a F129 engine screaming at 8k+ rpms through the mountains of Oahu so I think it will be here a while. I think Gobble got it right. I'd say it is worth $65k.
This is a great topic. I looked for a year for a GTS or GTB, any color. Those in the know, know that a vert is never EVER going to be worth as much as a GTS or the king GTB. If you paid more you lost. Sorry but the numbers don't lie. Never found a car with lower miles (20-30k range was what I was shooting for) for less then 75k Seattle huh? I have to tell you, I lived there for 15 years. HATE Seattle with a passion. In fact I hate it more then any other place maybe other then Qatar. It was awesome in the 90's then went tits when all the hipsters took over. Lost it's indent. PPL there are so rude. And the drivers there...omg, I never wanted to shoot ppl when I drive, but in Seattle.. On the positive you have those beautiful mountains. Funny that you moved from Hawaii, as I just moved FROM there last Nov. Was up in Punalulu for 7 years. LOVE Hawaii, way to expensive now (as you know) worst traffic in the nation and ranked 50 in schools (out of 50 states)... At least Seattle has Dicks Drive in, Alki Beach and the hydro races (snobs permitting the noise on Lake Washington)
oh and a manual F355.. I think the lowest F355 I saw was a vert, auto for 48k with high miles. you get what you pay for. I agree with one of the other comments, if you pay less then $90k, your paying for a car with a history (more then I would want) or mechanical issues. And this is coming from a mechanic. There are those cars with a lot of problems. It's someone else's EX girlfriend...
Man, I still want your car. I wish you were holding on to it until spring. Good luck with the sale but if you happen to still have it at the end of April let me know.
