I had the privilege of seeing two pros today, John Penney and Bud Granley flying two WW2 jewels. Bud flew a P-40c and Penney flew a Spitfire, both of which are part of the Paul Allen's Flying Heritage collection. The low level passes were great but the landings beautiful. Penney floated along in the Spitfire before settling into a cushiony soft landing and Granley followed with a chirping wheelie in the P-40 after they put on a lovely series of runs past the crowd. I realized that whatever I have done in my flying past was little kid's stuff compared to these guys. So this summer they will be flying a Hurricane, P-47, Mosca, ME109E, P-51, jenny, and Storch. I'll be there.

Ahhhh...love to have been there with you Bob. Sounds like it was a good fly day. I'd docent there all of the time if I lived close by like you.

Yeah, that would be fun but I don't have much time between buying and working on this house and my artwork. Way too busy for an old guy but then that's why I keep getting older, I guess. Number 84 coming next month.
Got to thinking about the WW2 fighters and how cool it must be to handle one of those machines and thought about the hundreds of them that I saw when I was a kid before and when I went into the warstuff. Nineteen and twenty year olds were flying them and we didn't think about it then. This country performed miracles in the 3 1/2 years that we were combating the bad guys.

Glad you could make it up there, and for two fun planes to watch. Both make great sounds.

I live less than 2 miles from the airport and I still missed going. Unfortunately, didn't realize they were flying again after GA day last weekend
