Nice car. Shame they are going to limit the performance so that it does'nt eclipse the 911's.

Imagine it with a 3.8 or better still a turbo!

I love it. I just hope it cost less than $50K. It looks great. The photo on the link still looks like it could have been photoshoped to me but I hope not.

I have read the coupe is supposed to be the new entry level vehicle, so it should come in under whatever the 987 base Boxster costs, which should be less than $50k.

    Looks good to me.

Isn't the new Boxster S coming with 280 horsepower now? Won't that be pretty close to the non-S 911?

The non-S 911 will have 320 HP, or there abouts, if I recall correctly.

Makes sense. They need to "outdo" the outgoing 996 at least by a little, which is how Porsche usually doles out the HP...a little at a time. The S variant "outdoes" the 996 with powerkit option...by just a little.

That's beautiful. Too bad every hairdresser and dentist will own one. I love it.

Heck, you have to worry about the "typical owner" image in any Porsche or Ferrari. Most non-owners think anyone who owns one of these cars (any of them) is an egotistical poseur trying to make up for inadequacies by showing off his $$$ anyway. The only people dumb enough to look down on individual models are the ones that should know better...fellow owners.

Being in the company of hairdressers and dentists isn't too bad given the generic rep of Porsche/Ferrari owners. We are all knobs to most of the world.

i like it. i just hope theres some length to the rear deck lid. Dont want it looking to much like the 911 ya know. The Cpillars really make it look like a 911. But the rear view looks promising, just as long as it has some length to it. Ill buy one asa i have the funds.

Right. Sorry, I should've clarified. I meant in terms of performance. The last Boxster S was did around 5.2-5.3 0-60 and that was with 250hp. Now the new one is now offered in coupe form with 280hp. I was thinking that this was getting into 911 territory. But maybe not.

Still, the 911 looks great with the redesign and I'm sure it has the power to shrug off a Boxster S in the end.

I was speaking more to the quantity of drivers, not the "quality," though I see your point.

I am not sure if they have definitively said what the power levels for the coupe will be yet. Assuming it is lighter than the regular Boxster, it wouldn't take too much power (over 250) to have it nibbling at the heels of the base 911, I wouldn't think. AND there are rumors of a Club Sport version (even lighter). But knowing Porsche's paranoia with protecting 911 sales, who knows, they could even REDUCE the power on the coupe, since it is the "new" entry level model.

Here is a trivia question...how many cars have started life as a cab, and then been remade later into a coupe?

    I'm going to agree. Note:
    - the trees/grass stuff is a clone-tooled blob (note the square yellow patches)
    - there is a "stretchmark" in the reflection of the fender to the top-left of the rear wheel, probably from the liquefy tool
    - the black side intake doesn't match the tonal qualities of the black intakes in the front (it's too dark)
    - the inside line on the intake doesn't fit the doorline
    - the road is clone tooled over and over (note the repeated patterns and horizontal seams in the lower left)
    - the rear taillights look like straight 997 pieces (although they might be anyway)
    - at the tail, there is clone-tooled yellow grass along the edges of the car

That's a quick overview; not a bad PS job really, but not authentic.
