The top bidders tell me everything I need to know.

IF those guys think it's real, I'd expect it to be ok.

Bought the sellers tools and jack today. He is very much real. I advised him to continue to sell books on ebay and not end the auction early. Let the two likely candidates (and the occational end user) duel to the end.

Let's hope for the buyer's sake that no wild cards from abroad decide to step up.

Monterey is just around the corner and the timing of this auction is optimum.

Do the price of the cars seem to be increasing slower than the price of the accessories?

Didn't a warranty book recently test the $1000 mark?
And the Service book almost hit $600?

Rare stuff and I think they're not usually available separately, so if you want them, buying the whole set may be the only way to get it.
Then again, it is a shame to think that someone stripped their Dino of these items.

SINCE WHEN?? Who are you trying to fool here. You paid me 4500 and 4800 for the last couple of incomplete sets. No warranty cards, and dealer directory missing in the other.

The seller of this particular set told he yesterday in person you offered 4000 already for the books and you were off to Indy, Is this incorrect information??I can not imagine Dirk had a reason to not tell the truth.

So in examining you comments if 3000 is too much? Why offer 4000?

I assume this group will not see you bid at the end, and nunzio828 will pay TOO MUCH ..... Again!!!!

In that good old FERRARICHAT spirit

these are the true market values. the pouch set on ebay right now is at or close to $6k and speer didnt even start bidding yet.
clearly remember when anyone, no matter who, wins a pouch set its obviously only won by $10. or $50. above the next highest bidder.

the price is the price regardless if they are end users for their concours car or collectors..
perhaps in concept no one pays too much when they win it but many pay too little who do not.

tom, come on now. i truely find it hard to believe that books like these are worth $5k, however, i do pay that much for them and others do too. that may dictate market, but it doesn't justify it.

kirk, not dirk, made the comment that all he wanted fo rthe books was $3k, he made mention that if he got anything above that, he would be thrilled. i told him i thought they were worth about $5k based on the recent sales of similar items. i told him i would buy his tools from him and he threw the idea of a package deal out for the whole thing. the $4k was his number. i said if he had put a $4k buy it now price on it, i would have bought it on the spot. is that an offer, i don't think so. the idea quickly changed as nunzio had bid on it and he didn't want to screw the ebay auction up as he had spoken with nunzio before.

all in all, they are a great set of books, the missing items can be replaced with patience on ebay. the same can be said for the books i have previosuly bought from you that were incomplete.

What was your response about?? Saying they are worth 5000, you would BUY IT NOW for 4000 and current bid price (3000) "I think is above market"

I am confused, Am I trying to read something between the lines twisting one's words or .........a little backing up.... double talkin' ... the big JIVE TALKING goin' on here.

More importantly Are you at Indy? Correct information?

i was being a bit facitious when i made that statement based on the fact that a pouch set, that had different items, but still a pouch set sold for for well over $6k just over a week ago:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6638556269&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1

the buy it now comment was in response to the seller saying he thought it was only worth $3k. my comment was, i think it is more, in fact if it had a buy it now price of $4k i would have bought it without blinking.

i am not double talking. i have been more than vocal on the absurdity that has taken place with respect to these types of items, and i say that knowing i am one of the culprits. i have also put my money where my heart is to try and collect items like these when logically i disagree.

tom, lighten up a bit. you should join us here in indy. this is basically a glorified reason to eat good food, partake in a good drink and watch some cars drive around. a simple, but yet over priced way to get away from everyday work.

sadly or not the fact is that at todays market prices the set currently on ebay is worth as high as $7000 period end of story. ALL of us have had this conversation IN WRITING and we ALL know it. RIGHT ???????

    some guys buy them cheap.
    some guys steal them.
like tom says i am just not lucky i always pay too much .but i guess that at least makes the sellers happy.

Anybody who buys these items will look like a genious in time. Nunzio may make today's sellers happy and in time, buyers will make Nunzio a happy camper. I remember going head to head with John Kennedy when eBay first launched and even when I won, I felt I lost. Everyone who is following this discussion would love to be offered these items at those late 1990s prices. Let the market find its level but know that a rising tide lifts all ships and in this era of global warming and global wealth, the tide continues to rise.

i am the biggest advocate for the ridiciluous nature of prices. howver, i have bought 3 dino's in the last year. if a car doesn't ahve it's books or tools, the car must be discounted from auction prices that include books and tools. whether these items are required or not is a different topic. however, i know how difficult these items are to track down. when deteremining value, books and tools have to be factored in. although, as a dino collector, i collect these, as a dino owner, i know that they are valuable.

i thinkanyone would agree, ebay is the best indicator as to what the value for items like these, regardless of implied worth, is.

would anyone like to chime in?
