    Hello group,

I feel very lucky to own a 1988.5 Ferrari 328 GTS. It is a 2 owner 12,500 mile (20,000 kms) example (personal car of Remo Ferri from Ferrari of Ontario). Rosso corsa on black. It's absolutely mint and has had a major service done last year by Ferrari of Ontario.

I have it insured with Hagerty through Lant and it's time to reinsure. What is a realistic replacement value for this car. I am thinking in the range of 125K US. Can anyone recommend an appraiser in the greater Toronto area?

    Thanks,

    Bruno

    Bruno:

I have almost the same car: '88.5 328, red/black, 13k miles, two-owner, mint condition...only difference is that mine is a GTB. That being said, it's insured by Chubb for $125k...no appraisal, no questions asked.

Go with Zehrs insurance, half the premiums of Hagerty for the same coverage. (Toronto area).

I've looked at other insurers and decided to stick with Hagerty even though their rates seem quite a bit higher than I might find elsewhere. From what I can tell, if something bad does happen, they stand by their customers and don't look for money-saving options on repairs. As the 308/328s have moved up in value, I think that this is an increasingly important consideration. (I've presently got my '89 328 GTS insured with them for $90,300).

Folks have said a fair amount about rates they're paying, but not a lot of information seems available on what happens if someone needs to make a claim. There's a bit of talk on this aspect in http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/206-246/450305-insurance-advice-please.html

FYI, hagerty gave me no trouble for a 328 cracked windshield that cost about 6k to fix.
